I've been in the car a bit today, and somehow the CSU coaching drama has led to a full day of ripping on CU on the radio. Listening to Sandy Clough and Scott Hastings a few minutes ago, and their lack of knowledge about CU is disturbing.

I guess it means we're at least still the top dog in the state, even when we suck.

It's hilarious. How is CU even being mentioned in all of this right now???

I thought Mike Evans and Vic Lombardi were going to throw down this morning. Vic thinks Dave Logan or Bob Stitt should get a look up in FC. Mike Evans was (IMO correctly) stating that CSU is at a crossroads and needs to make a commitment to the program because now would be the worst time for them to become irrelevant again. Finally the intern or somebody else just screamed for them to stop talking about it.

Time to get back to talking about who should be the 53rd man on the Broncos roster, should it be a kick-off specialist.

Denver media is clueless about college football in general. Some worse than others.

I hate Evans, but this time he was absolutely correct.

Both Logan and Stitt need to show something at this level before they get a head gig. Stitt should have jumped to OC somewhere long ago, and Logan.... just no

Irv and Joe are very upset with you right now.

Totally agree. Vic was spouting off about how Patrick Roy skipped steps, John Elway skipped steps, etc. to get to where they are now - so why would it be any different for Stitt? OMG - it was painful. Just goes to show that very few sports "journalists" in this town know anything about college football besides what they see on ESPN.

How is coming up?

From phone

I don't even know, frankly. Sandy was going on about how Embree didn't enough time, and that the improved stats and stuff don't mean anything. Hastings was talking about how Hawk should have been fired a year earlier.

As I said, I have no idea how the Buffs are dominating the conversation today.

Even yesterday, Alfred Williams and DMac were going on about the Buffs (DMac asked if anyone was busting down the door to hire 'Dan MacIntyre' at CU).... it's weird to me.

And Vic was totally wrong.

Roy coached at the highest level of Quebec juniors for almost a decade.... and there is no guarantee it will work out. Elway cut his teeth managing the AFL Denver team.

They know the Broncos, after that they don't really care. Sports radio in this town SUCKS!!!

DoucheMac...ugh.

Any time some idiot brings up Dave Logan's name as a serious candidate for a D-1 college head coaching job, particularly at CU or CSU, all one needs to do is respond with two words:

Jerry Faust.

There is a world of difference between coaching a high school and coaching a D-1 football program. It's not even close. Dave Logan is a part time coach at Creek and has a staff of assistants who handle the majority of the day-to-day work. At a D-1 program, he'd have to put in 16 hour days for half the year. His staff has other things to worry about. It's so incredibly different that it amazes me that people who should know the difference seem to be oblivious to it.

With that in mind, I hope he goes to CSU. It would destroy that program.

Mike Evans discussing college football is PAINFUL. Literally just "SEC is good".

Williams was at the Utah game last Saturday for whatever that's worth.

Mike Evans is just painful in general. Easily the worst radio jockey we've got in Denver (and he's up against some real bad ones too, like Gil).

I just can't understand how people can be so dumb to think Dave Logan is worth mentioning. It's the worst Colorado sports take I can think of and it's mind blowing how often the local jackasses go back to it during every coaching change.

And every time it's brought up, even if someone knows it's stupid, they always kinda entertain the idea because noone wants to talk bad about Logan. But for once I just want somebody to just shut it down, call the idea ridiculous, and call whoever brought it up a f*cking idiot.

I spent some time arguing with lombardi last night, he's a myopic fool. He actually thinks Bob Stitt is the exact same situation as Chip Kelly, and that the jump from D2 coach to head coach that Kelly made was the same, that other schools are circling mines and CSU should get the jump on it.

Which ignores oh say:
- Kelly's 2 years as OC
- Belotti as his mentor
- nike's money
- Kelly's national brand by the time he became a head coach
- that Chip had time to tap into the oregon recruiting network
- that oregon had a ton of staff continuity Stitt wont
- that kelly was 8 years younger than Stitt at the time of the move.

I suggested like Kelly perhaps Stitt should go be an OC for a bit first, get tapped into networks and prove something before trying to be an HC.
His retort? CU hired Tad Boyle because you know basketball and football are the same thing.

The thing I think is most hilarious about the Logan thing is that he doesn't want to be a college coach. Guys throw his name out for some reason.

What I don't understand - I'll never understand it - is why the only press CU ever gets is negative press. Sandy Clough, who is in fact by far the most knowledgeable and best sports radio host in Denver, loves to rip on CU. Evidently to the point that if CSU is losing their coach, he'll take time to rip on CU. As for the rest of them, they don't know **** about college football anyway, so who cares.

I will give Mike Evans credit for admitting the obvious though - the only sports team that will be supported in this town through thick and thin is the Broncos. Everyone else has to win to get attention, because in the end this is a bandwagon town.

Clough loves him some CU BBall.

I grew up in ohio and NEVER heard radio folks trashing the buckeyes. Never seen a program so hated in their own state by the media.

Yup. I commute from Aurora to Bennett every morning and they are really concerned who the 4th string running back will be or what brand of ibuprofen Danny Trevathan uses.

Love the comparisons to the Rockies hiring Walt Weiss......LOL. Still, Hastings did hit the nail on the head with one comment today-the group of five are the minor leagues for coaches in college football. Just ask Sparkles.

It is definitely a unique situation. Almost none of the media went to CU or grew up here (I think Vic is the only one, and he didn't finish at CU), and most of the populace went elsewhere. There are many more media, both young and old, who went to CSU and have an axe to grind with CU or Boulder. The Boulder factor itself is part of it, I know alot of conservatives who hate CU merely because of Boulder's liberal reputation.

Actually 104.3 has more cu people than csu grads but since sandy's daughter now goes to csu he has an axe to grind. I was disappointed with him today because usually he knows what he is talking about but today he didn't present the situation fairly in my opinion. With Hastings it is expected because you know he probably hasn't watched a down since the csu game. Sandy said today that he sees no difference between Bohn and Rick George which is the most asinine thing I have ever heArd.
