Rocky Seto, a couple of articles...

So, I think this has about a snow balls chance in hell of actually happening. Even before Seahawks DC Dan Quinn was announced as HC of the Atlanta Falcons.

But anyway, here are a couple of articles I found on him.

“He’s got all the information,” Carroll said. “He knows everything we’ve ever done and how we’ve done it.

“He’s a tremendous resource for us to always stay in touch with the principles and the philosophy and all that…. He’s been a special confidant to me to maintain our language and our belief because he goes back the furthest with me.”

He’s been a very integral part of everything that we do,” Carroll said. “He has meetings with the team every day…. He’s a big factor for us. He’s a great football coach.”

Thats a pretty glowing description from your boss.

It appears he's quite innovative too.

Like every team, the Seattle Seahawks watch plenty of film. Unlike every team, those film sessions include some of the weirdest and most obscure YouTube videos imaginable.

“These are the most random videos you can possibly imagine,” said defensive back Steven Terrell.

In any given film session, the coaches—led by assistant coach Rocky Seto —fire up an Internet video with little explanation. “So we’re sitting there saying, ‘Does this really have anything to do with football?’ ” said safety Jeron Johnson.

Since it has been done all year, players have begun to figure out why a particular video is being shown. During this playoff run, Seto chose a dramatic video of a cheetah chasing a gazelle. Even before Seto’s explanation, the players figured it out. They watched the routes the cheetah was taking. They watched how he anticipated the gazelle’s movement and moved in concert with his prey, until, naturally, the cheetah caught up with its eventual victim. The Seahawks knew this was an instructional video on how to take proper tackling angles.

"One of the biggest techniques Pete, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and our staff teach is punching the ball out with a six-inch punch," defensive passing game coordinator Rocky Seto told USA TODAY Sports. "We show clips of Bruce Lee striking that six-inch punch against a guy holding a cushion who goes flying.

"We'll show a kangaroo punching somebody in the face. Or piranhas swarming to a piece of meat the way our defense swarms to the ball. We're just trying to create more awareness for our guys to punch the ball out quick so they play faster."

Seto said Carroll's greatest contribution is the instructional "Hawk Tackling" video compiled this offseason that takes the head out of tackling and has been sent to 14,000 high school and 8,000 youth football programs.

If this happens someone please pick me up from the Emergency Room.

We're setting ourselves up. I'm done talking about Seto. I've made no secret about how high I am on him. Just can't keep going there.

I allowed myself to entertain the possibility for about a day, but then reality set in. It's not happening. We're looking at a position coach or Co-DC from somewhere (hopefully another P5 school) who's holding out until after signing day, which really only helps his former school and hurts us. Unless he's "super-secretly" recruiting for us, but that seems like it would've leaked. Anyway, my expectations could not be lower at this point and I would not be surprised if Mac took over the job himself.

Discussing Seto as CU's DC is like buying a lottery ticket. It's worth it simply for the day dream of what you'd do if you won.

Yeah, I agree. Im not getting my hopes up at all (I use the same approach to the season) so that I can be pleasantly surprised. I really didn't know much about him and looked some stuff up while the server was down. I can see why most people would want him now.

I think MacIntyre has interviewed the person he wants but an offer is not tendered at this point, even verbally. That would explain why there are no leaks. Because there hasn't been an offer.

I suspect MM is focusing on LOI day and has stopped the hiring process until after 2/6.

The only other thing I can think of is that he has made an offer to someone like Pendergast who is still waiting to see if he gets another NFL job. Thats kind of a risky proposition but one that could pay off. Id probably make the call on 2/7 and demand an answer and then move on to plan C if he said no...

We need to stop talking about Seto.....Its pie in the sky-I think theres a very good chance he gets promoted after Dan Quinn gets formally introduced in Atlanta (Monday?). The delay now is signing day. I think we have a handshake agreement with an assistant coach at another school in our conference. Something will get done by this done time next week.

There are also a few indications that Ken Norton Jr. could be in line to be the DC for Jack Del Rio in Oakland, If that does happen there is no way Carroll let's Seto out of the building.

Ian Rappaport just said the new DC in Seattle will be Kris Richard the current DB coach, so maybe Seto is pissed he did not get the DC job

Honestly, that article I posted about Rocky Seto and his title as "Passing Game Coordinator", gave a lot of insight about what his duties and responsibilities currently are with the Seahawks. He's never even been a position coach in the NFL (Co-DBs coach is the highest he's been). He was never going to be next in line for Seattle's DC and probably not even the 3rd man up. I would bet that, if he stays with Seattle, he'll become the full time secondary coach, replacing Richard. Would an offer to be a DC at a Pac 12 school be enough to pry him away from a position coach in the NFL? Time will tell but I think Seto is as good a bet as anyone, right now, to be our guy.

As I said. I'm done talking about Seto. I can't stop thinking about it, though.

Am I cheating my vow if I speculate about Ken Norton Jr. coming to CU as Seto's LB Coach for the defense?

Why be done thinking about Seto? He fits every criteria HCMM talked about and him being the guy would explain the lengthy process. There are more indicators that say he could be the guy than there are that rule him out.

If it ends up not being Seto, what has changed? Sure, you'll be let down a bit, but it's more fun thinking about our defense with him in control, than it is thinking about some random position assistant from a P12 school.

I think he's at the right age and place in his career to make the jump. The question is will he. IF he's the guy we want to offer.

I kind of thought this was a pipedream but after reading another recent article talked about his christian faith and his preference for staying at usc as DC instead of his current role at sea...i am starting to dream it is a possibility.
