RG strikes again. Boss. Finally our AD isn't a giant puss when it comes to scheduling

Must have barely had enough attendance to prevent a cancellation of the series. Damn.

I like RG not so subtly calling out CSU. We have all the negotiating power here

i am sure that once the sheep have their shiny new stadium built, the series will continue on campus. their attendance in the fancy new stadium should support it, right?

right?

right?

Rocky Mountain Showdown unlikely to be renewed!!!!

Wow, another reason to get excited today. Now hiring Seto would put me over the edge and I may need to visit Target for new boxer briefs or at least go commando.

maybe we can get an official allbuffs response to the tweet in approval.

Disappointing, as a CSU fan, if that ends up being the case. I can understand some of the reasons why CU (the program/the fans) wouldn't be interested in this game continuing as-is. I can admit that, outside of the pure financials (CU makes good money off this game too - especially when they are good/relevant), CSU has more to gain by playing the game. I would definitely prefer they move the series back to campuses once CSU new stadium is ready. I'd even be willing to concede letting CU play at home and CSU play their home games in Denver until that can happen.

A fair guess is that CSU wanted to either keep some games in Denver and/or have an even split home and home on campus.

If I am RG the least I settle for is a 2 for 1, CSU now thinks they are big time, let them fill their new stadium without a CU game to remind their fans that they have a team.

Best just to kill it.

Nah, you can come to Boulder and play us. No damn reason to play CSU outside of Boulder, ever.

I think RG has heard enough from the fans that they are sick of playing this game in Denver. He did what any good AD would do in his position, which is to see if there was a way he could amend the existing contract. He was told "no". So in response, the series ends once this contract is done. CSU had to know that would likely be the case and they didn't budge. So be it. Enjoy the last four years of the series, goats.

We should force them to play us in Hughes in 2020 like the contract stipulates. That's be amazing (I still can't believe we're playing them in FoCo, and now in the last year of the series)

End the series. On campus or off, end it.

I get the impression from RG that had they agreed to take the game out of Denver now, he would have been willing to continue the series past it's current expiration.

I wouldn't have minded a 2-1 on rotating campuses. But CSU seems to think they're something special these days and decided to play hardball. OK, fine. Have it your way. Have fun playing Weber State in front of 10,000 rabid fans on opening day, 2021.

I've been posting for over a decade that this is a no win game for CU and should be discontinued altogether.

This is meant to be a legitimate point, not purely inflammatory. While a 2-1 gets CSU a solid home game every 3 years there is no doubt CSU could schedule far more interesting road opponents if that was what had to happen. CU is far better off conference/historical/money-wise, I completely acknowledge that, but at present most arguments you could make about one team you could make about the other as well. Maybe we are both getting a little big for ourselves? Or maybe both just need to move on.

Uhh, what?

CU needs this to be a 2 for 1 at the very least due to the 9 game conf schedule and both of the 2 have to be at home. Just have to be. That's the bottom line. If CSU doesn't like that, then CU will go elsewhere. Everything else is dross. The extension by Bohn was so, so, SO dumb.

Outside of that overriding point. We gain minimal extra money from the game compared to Folsom. This series is a huge win for CSU financially.

Would we make a little less money? Sure, but the scheduling flexibility is more than worth it. ANd with the new renovations to Folsom, maybe that money difference really shrinks.

Then there is the on field benefits, which are meh. Let CSU play in their sandbox, and CU in ours.

I think it's fantastic you guys can schedule far better 2 for 1s. I don't disagree. Stoked you'll have that opportunity

Really?

Like who? Nebraska? Forget any Pac 12 schools. They have all the same issues we have with a 9-game conference schedule. In fact, I think the B1G plays a 9 game conference schedule too. So forget Nebraska. Who else? Is CSU going to magically travel 4,000+ to an away game?
