'16 CO OLB Carlo Kemp (Signed to Michigan)

As I said earlier in this thread, HCMM's job with this recruitment is to get Kemp up to Folsom and Dal Ward as often as possible to watch practices, hang out at Dal Ward, come to games, etc. Also, for HCMM and staff to be at every Fairview game. Then, to win this season to demonstrate CU as a viable big time program for playing his college football. Finally, to get him on an OV.

If he does all that and Kemp decides that his heart is set on seeing another part of the country rather than staying in his same town for college, then I can accept the disappointment knowing that every effort had been made.

Since there's a new defensive chief in town and pipe dreams are all the rage, let me just say the idea of getting Carlo and JoJo Domann to both stay in Colorado and line up on the same defense in college is something for which I will now be getting my hopes up for the next 51 weeks.

Close to 50% of the kids from Monarch go to CU. I would guess it's close to the same for the other Boulder County schools.

For an average student, I would agree. For an athlete that may have full ride scholarship offers from college football's elite, staying in Boulder may not seem all that appealing. I hope the addition of Leavitt, new facilities and increased success on the field gives Carlo something to think about in the next year.

Talked to few old friends at Fairview, supposedly its between CU and ND. I think we get him, too many family connection to Boulder.

The Pagano and Mac connections HAVE to help.

Paganos have never been Buff fans.

In fact, the Pagano clan and their Mile High FB camps were always direct competitors with CU FB camps. No love lost there.

Not sure about Mac connections either. FHS not known for sending kids down the hill.

Being so close to FHS could even work against CU. A lot of kids want to get away.

Nobody ever said it would be easy to get Kemp, just really important. We all knew he was going to get offers from all over. This latest development should surprise nobody.

Still has to be the #1 priority for the staff. I know we don't always land our #1 priority, but this kid is a game changer. I really, really don't want to have to face him every year.

He and JoJo Domann are priorities 1A/1B. Getting two 4* LBs, from in state, would go a long way in the rebuild of the defense.

low and lower....

It sounds like the coaches are doing everything they can and are doing a good job but it will just come down to if Kemp has a change of heart in terms of playing out of state. There is a lot of time still but it will be interesting. From Kemp's perspective, I get it. I wouldn't want to go to college where I grew up either but he can be a difference maker at a position of need for the hometown team.

It is interesting. Kids grow up in Colorado and they always seem to want to leave and go to school out of state. Kids in Florida, Texas, etc have no issues staying in state for school.

Probably comes down to the schools in Colorado have not been very good lately in football but it seems we ran into this even when we were still decent in the GB years.

Dumb.

I'm from Colorado and I went to CU but I doubt I would want to go to CU if I grew up in Boulder. It would be nice to get atleast a car ride away from the parents for college lol.

Putting the B&G colored glasses down, if you were a kid that had his pick of any school in the country to go play for, is CU really the most attractive offer right now, regardless of how you feel about it being your hometown team?
