House cleaning or guys jumping ship?

Probably a little bit of both. Doesn't seem like Tad wanted DT to leave but I think the guard play needed an overhaul in terms of JHop.

if assistant coach attrition starts, hit the panic button. right now it's too soon to tell.

Assistant coach attrition will happen. I can guarantee that. But I'm not sure how that ties in to hitting a panic button.

I'm not sure what you mean by either option.

Tad hasn't kicked anyone out of the program.

Projected starters haven't left.

What we've seen is 2 guys who were being told that the expectations are now higher and that within that they'd be looking at bench roles as upperclassmen.

I read it as Tad laying things out and players deciding that there would be a better situation for them elsewhere.

let me clarify -- if assistant coaches leave for the same positions at other schools, I think its time to hit the panic button.

I guess in my mind, it'll make this situation very reminiscent of VT under Greenberg in 2011/2012.

so, you seem to know something that I haven't seen posted -- which assistants are leaving? why and where to?

i disagree i think we need some attrition to shake things up.

Only thing that surprises me are the people that are leaving. Instead of Stalzer and Talton, it's Jhop and Dustin. But hey, Tad said he was going to sit each one of them down when the season ended for an honest assessment.

No disrespect to Jhop or Dustin, but it's time to clean up some stuff in the program. CU can't afford to have 6'7 players and under that can't shoot, guard, or dribble. Looking at the Final Four, the talent gap between those teams and CU is ____. I'll let yawl fill in the blank. Tad needs to up his recruiting and get some ballers up to Boulder.

This is all I kept thinking about watching UK, Wisco, Duke, AZ, Mich State, etc. Imagining Josh Scott going up against Kaminsky, Okafor, Winslow, etc. is scary.

Guys seeking opportunities that aren't here anymore is all it is in my opinion. DT wasn't going to have a chance to start at the 3 anytime soon, or the 4. Hopkins was going to be behind Fortune at the 2. I think this is guys thinking the grass may be greener elsewhere. I'm not sure that either were crazy about Tad's basketball in boulder summer planned either.

It looks pretty straightforward that Dom and Fortune will be our starting backcourt. That leaves Jaron in a situation where he can still get lots of minutes, but not as much to showcase what he knows he has the potential to do based on his HS projections. He will do well being "the guy" in a program that better suits him. Good luck to him and Dustin for that matter.

Do you really expect those guys to leave?Neither has pro potential. Stalzer has three years invested in a music degree, which isn't the kind of thing you can just pick up on at another school. He's invested in a program and his instructors. Both these guys know that their roles are limited, but they both seem to be good teammates and only have one year left.

For slightly different reasons I don't expect XJ to leave. He's going to at least get a shot at the League (he's projected as a late second round pick by one of the leading draft sites), so why sit out a year? He knows what his role is here and if he's not a serious student (no idea) he can drop out as soon as the season ends.

If Jhop and Dustin are leaving the Pac 12 to realize their pro potential, they would probably be making a huge mistake. I am however being a bit irrational (or greedy) thinking that the least talented players should be the ones that leave the program.

I'm with you, as it would seriously surprise me if XJ leaves, especially after all the tweets to the fans after the season.

I think Dustin just wants more playing time, but J-Hop has the athleticism to believe he's got a shot, and he wasn't going to get it here.

DT improved in his 2nd yr & there were numerous compliments of his work ethic after he chose to transfer. Based on what I've heard over the last few months, I'm not sure we'll hear similar comments about J-Hop. He was given a larger role than DT from the get-go & he never established himself as a consistent PAC-12 player. They're both solid D1 players t but I'll take advanced stats & my own eyes over HS rankings every time--neither of them were essential to winning in the PAC-12 & the Dance.

Someone in the weekly chat with Brian Howell said Tory Miller is looking to transfer, which is weird.

Very weird. He's in line to be a starter as a 3rd year guy. If he transfers, he'd sit out a year and then hope to start as a 3rd year guy. Wouldn't make much sense.

Did you hear that Josh Scott is transferring? I heard it from a guy who knows a cousin of his who would definitely be in the know.

See how easy that is?

If Tory does decide to transfer that would certainly be unfortunate, but I'm not going to put any stock in what an anonymous commenter in a BuffZone chat says he heard from some guy...just like you shouldn't put any stock into what I said above.

I would be more upset if the team and coaches looked the same after the season we just had.

I get it I just thought it was weird and came out of no where.

I thought we wanted assistant coaches to, umm, attrit?

ok, take 3 -- if Boyle experiences un-managed attrition of assistant coaches who end up taking the same positions at other schools -- I'll be the lone Buff fan hitting the panic button.

FIFY!

I thought both of the transfer players were headcases: Thomas because he seems so tied to Texarkana and the fact that he never, ever smiled; he was wound too tight and wasn't having any fun out there. Hopkins never could wrap his brain around tough "D" or controlled play..

May they find what they are looking for, it wasnt happening in their worlds inside Boulder.

You will certainly be alone.

Some staff turnover is normal and healthy.

Plus, with both Pri and Rohn ready to be head coaches it would be perfectly understandable if they left at some point for parallel AC jobs simply to get more exposure through expansion of their network.

XJ smiles too much, DT not enough. Geez people, how about were evaluate players on how they play. No more firm handshakes and eye twinkles.

Boyle's comment in Howell's article

In the new-age of transfers in college basketball, there's always the potential of Boyle losing another player this offseason, but he said, "I don't expect it.

If another player leaves we will have the answer Slider's question. if there's no more attrition, we'll remain in blissful ignorance.

From Brian Howell's article:

Rivals.com reported Wednesday that UC-Colorado Springs star Derrick White is expected to visit the Buffs. A 6-foot-5 guard from Legend High School in Parker, White has one year of eligibility left and could play immediately at CU if he transfers.
White was the RMAC freshman of the year in 2013 and in 2014 became the first All-American in UCCS history. He earned second-team All-America honors this past season, finishing second nationally with 25.8 points per game. He also averaged 7.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.1 blocks per game.

Ninja'd!

Got a really good feeling about Derrick White. Not going to say too much but I think he comes and I think we're all about to freaking love him.
