One difference between this year and last that I think I am seeing: we are much more aggressively offering and going after guys who have already committed to a school. Last year this time we were done trying with this type of recruit.

Could just mean that Cal backed off. After the embarrassment they had over their APR issues, they've gotten pretty strict and risk averse there now.
