I know most of you don't give a ****, but here is what UF is building for their IPF. This was taken yesterday, looks smaller than ours. image.jpg

this is bull**** mods. I put this in the IPF thread, which is where it belongs.

Other posters have put pictures of Oregons and Washington's IPF and other facilities in that thread.

Those are our peers and we have been comparing what was recently built in our conference to what we are building now. We are not posting them and saying "hey look at what is happening at my school"

Yeah but I don't think a lot of Pac-12 school shave IPFs so why not post some of the newer ones that are being built.

First of all I never said hey look at what's happening at my school. If Colorado wants to compete with recruits in Florida we have to compete with Florida. We want to say we have some the best facilities in the nation we have to compete with not only the pac 12 but with the nation and the SEC.

Back on topic for a second.

This does look pretty small. They certainly won't be able to do kicking drills in there. It looks barely big enough for passing drills. It kind of reminds me of a barn. I'm not sure why a school like UF even needs it, unless they figure they need one to compete for recruits, too. I guess it rains a lot in Florida, so that may be a contributing factor. I think they need to be careful. Building a half-assed IPF could backfire on them. Maybe it'll turn out great, I don't know, but from what I can see in that picture, it looks pretty lame.

They just need it because of all the thunder storms but I agree it looks weird. I doubt it will end up that way but I think they already have indoor track facilities so they don't need one similar to CU's.

$15 million. Full 120 yards including endzones. Not sure what the height is.

They currently run indoor track in the O'Connell Center (basketball arena) but won't have an indoor track facility after the O'Dome renovations are complete.

To be honest, that still looks pretty lame.

It looks like 90% of the indoor facilities out there. It fills a need at a reasonable price. When you have a 90,000 seat stadium, 3 national titles, 3 Heismans, and are a recruiting powerhouse in a major state, you don't need to blow kids away with a glittery practice field.

I agree to a point. However, you also don't want to look like you don't give a damn. For the kind of money that program brings in, I'd expect something a little more flashy. It's really not much more than a practice bubble. Only it can't be taken down.

"Butler" building. A fancy warehouse. They should have forklifts in it.

UF needs an IPF because Gainesville is hotter than hell and as humid as a rainforest come August when practice starts with out of shape big guys.

Have you ever attended a game in the swamp. It was named because it's impossible to leave without swamp ass.

Yeah but most of their players are from Florida and are used to the humidity.

nope. bucket list item.

hate swamp ass -- not much of a problem in Colorado though!

****eatingators is one word.

Sticker I got from a FSU fan in Tallahassee tailgating next to a tin shack auto repair shop with a RV covered in moss when CU played there. Fun time!

Practicing in the rain is a blessing in Florida. Believe me. Lighting might be what your looking for as the reason. Another possible reason is to be able to plug in offensive schemes, plays, wrinkles without the prying eyes (or video camera) of a Crimson Tide fan. If you get my drift.

I do find it ironical that CU fans were so convinced that were the butt of D1 without our IPF and along comes an SEC school that doesn't have one. We actually have a more legitimate need when there is a lot of snow on the ground which could have forced us to cancel more than one practice. Whereas in Florida you probably only cancel in lightning conditions, part of a single day.

It's not small. Sparkles is not going to stand for another short practice field. Full 100 yards plus endzones.

UF considered a few options for an indoor practice facility, including a 90-yard field, including end zones, to be built on the third, westernmost practice field.
“There’s more challenges with that field three option,” Howard said. “You would impact track (and field) throw areas and have to move those, and a lot of site work to put it on field three.”
Howard said McElwain hoped for a full, 120-yard field, including end zones.
“Each coach is different in what they would utilize it for, and Coach Mac has a plan to utilize that indoor a good bit,” Howard said. “It made that sense at that point, once we discussed it with him, that we would utilize the 120-yard field.”
