I hate when I look over at the front page of recruiting and CU is not the top choices of any of them damn players.

Win, can't sell the campus or the conference. Just flat out win. Cmon Coach!

We gots uniforms now!

Wait, we suck at recruiting players with more than 2 or 3 stars and multiple P5 offers? Hold the phone!

Okay, I'm going to channel 'Tini for a moment here.

Yes, we've lost, what I consider to be a disproportionate number of recruiting battles. I acknowledge that it's concerning, and we are right to be critical.

On the other hand, as we turn this bus (I know that other programs turn the recruiting bus faster), there is an iterative process which all contributes to the public perception. The process includes facilities, uniforms and ultimately, as noted here, wins on the field. I believe that we are systematically addressing the concerns, and hope to see it translate to recruiting victories in the very near future.

And while I've been hopeful for a while, I can acknowledge that some of those factors have been gaining steam recently.

But, but, but...

Hooray GPA and graduation rates. Best evar!

We've dressed the program up nicely over the past year or two (literally recently,) but the on field play is the missing piece. As important as it is to have a better record this year, we need at least one unexpected victory. How long has it been since we had a serious upset? was it Georgia?

not going to happen overnight, this is just the start of a long process. The schools that turn it around lightning fast, cheat.

This has been said for at least five years and a more accurate date for the beginning of the current phase was about two years ago. I'd say we're entering the middle of the process, where we find out if it is going to advance or start over again soon.

Yeah the Oakland Raiders have really proved the usefulness of starting over (and over and over) with new coaches every two-three years or so.

I say, DAMN the continuity! Win in two or be gone!

I would say you did not read Timmy's post at all.

You missed the point of Timmy's post entirely.

EDIT: Okay, Duff already pointed that out.

Having worked in mining this is true.

He who knows where the diamond source is located is better off than the guy who knows where the jewelry store is. And trust me, the mall is much easier to get to than the mine.

Now how this applies to football, i'll have to think of a few more metaphors.

I am concerned about losing these battles as it does seem we lose a disproportionate number of them, and it may be Mac's eventual undoing, but my refrain stays the same...Mac inherited the worst P5 program in the country suffering from years of neglect. It is going to take more time than some would like to turn this around - particularly being stuck in the best division in CFB. I'm convinced RG realizes this and will give Mac his 4-5 years...unless we take a major turn for the worst next season. IMO many indicators are pointing to a better team in 2015 and a bowl game in 2016. Once we are relevant again, and recruiting doesn't improve, then Mac will have some soul and job searching to do.

HCMM will likely get next year regardless of the outcome this year. That being said, it is time for results now. No more wait until next year. No more excuses. He has built the foundation. He has the facilities. He has the uniforms. He has the admin support. He has upward momentum. He has upgraded the staff on the side of the team holding us back the most. It is time to start winning games. Period.

100% agree.

Really does seem like this season and next are crucial to building this back up to have sustained success. If HCMM can't get it done and we have to go thru another coaching change in 2017 it will not be pretty. Seems weird to say considering we've had a decade of mostly futility but now that everything is in place there is substance to back up the higher expectations rather than just wishful thinking.

Sure he has all that stuff - most importantly, the uniforms, of course - but does he have water bottles? And is he happy with his desk?
