Two great Buffs.
This goes to Chris Brown, though. Shorter CU career, but was in the running to win the Heisman and go over 2,000 yards in the 2002 season (with over 20 TDs) if he hadn't missed the last 2 1/2 games of the season.
There's also the 6 TDs he put up in 62-36, a game that a lot of Buff fans will say is their greatest game memory... even over the National Championship win.

Brown produced in huge games. Nelson hasn't had that chance yet. Check with me again after the season, though, if Spruce has another 100 catch season and leads this team to a bowl game.

I would put this as the determining factor. CB loved the big moment.
People remember him for his big runs but it is worth remembering as well that he was a beast in short yardage. A great all-around college back.
The voting should in no way be taken as a knock on Spruce.
He's on track to finish as the greatest career WR in CU history.
It's 100% the win-loss record that's holding him back. With a bowl game this season and stats comparable to last year, I might change my vote. Especially if there is a highlight moment that I know will stick in my memory forever (e.g., Westbrook with "The Catch").

Gotta be Chris Brown. If Nelson makes a catch in the back of the endzone to upset USC and win the south title for us this year then we will talk.

Chris Brown was a game changer, Nelson Spruce is a hall of a gamer. Brown easily.

Spruce is a great Buff in a crappy era. As many others have mentioned, CB performed on the biggest stage. Spruce still has an opportunity to change some big games.
For now, Brown gets the nod here. Depending on what Spruce accomplishes this season.
No knock on Spruce, he's a really good football player, Brown wins this hands down. A poll should be made about who is CUs best wr. All ill say is stats don't always tell the tale in that regard either.
As good as Spruce has been, this is Brown and it isn't close. Brown was in contention for the Heisman, and helped carry this team to a conference championship, a BCS bowl, and a complete dismantling of our biggest rival who came into Folsom ranked #1 in the nation.
Spruce is a victim of playing on some of the worst CU teams in history - the majority of his accomplishments were individual and really didn't help this team achieve anything meaningful. Short of a Heisman type season, I don't see any way Spruce passes Brown.

Chris Brown was dominating and made it count in a big games that we won. Big difference between he an Spruce as this point but Spruce close the gap if he somehow pushes the Buffs to 5-0 with a huge game against the Ducks
The offense is so different too, can't even imagine what CJ, Pritchard, Westbrook, etc would do in this type of system.
