Bad is an understatement... We can't punt... We missed 2 extra points one off the upright and the other hit the longer snapper in the ass...
The weird thing is that in the post-scrimmage interview with the press, MacIntyre talked about how the special teams improvement was the best example of how things had improved since he'd arrived as head coach. Uh oh.
This better not be a jinx like all of your first posts in gameday threads.

What is he gonna say? Alex kinney cant punt worth **** or deigo is dog **** and destroy their confidence?
If you READ my post, I mentioned that HE produced that as the best evidence of the improvement of the football program since he arrived. Special teams was not prompted by reporters at the time.

Well, let's see how things go this year...it seems like one scrimmage and everyone is jumping off a cliff. I personally have moved from ST being a question mark to a concern, but there's still 17 or so more practices and 13 games. But if they don't improve this year, Neinas has to go and seeing what Mac did with Baer, I think it will happen if it needs to.
It's not just one scrimmage. Special teams has been a concern for a while. There is no reason we shouldn't have reasonable kicking.
Kickoffs were short (Diego). 1 punt out of 4 was good (and it was great). Kinney has potential. Needs to get consistent and speed his launch. Diego made both his FGs. I think the one at the end was 55 yards. But there was a bad hold on 1 XP that he kicked into the snapper's ass. The other XP snafu was totally on him and went off the right upright. Unfortunately for fans, they're avoiding over kicking guys so Graham didn't kick in the scrimmage since he was going to be kicking in the afternoon practice.
I get it, I just think it's a little early to be hitting the red alert button.

I do agree that ST is a big question mark, that Neinas has not earned his salary and is doubtful he ever well. I do also agree that it was the first scrimmage and there are many more practices to improve some of this stuff. By all accounts, Kinney has a good leg and was #2 ranked punter so he'll be alright (would be nice if we had more confidence in his coach to help him improve his mechanics though). Diego supposedly has a huge leg but it hasn't translated into kickoffs although that was a long field goal (somewhere I read it was closer to 57).
I think where Mac was optimistic is the sense that we have more athletes across the board and more depth meaning our punt and kickoff teams should perform better. Whether our kickers deliver is still uncertain. Given what HCMM did to overhaul his defensive staff, he has now earned my trust regarding willingness to upgrade staff when needed. I would say that most of us recognized the need to get Neinas out almost when he was hired, so it is a bit of a mystery why he is still employed other than his dad's connections.

The reports are very disturbing. I swear if we come out against Hawaii with god awful ST units for a third straight year, I will freak. I am not too worried about XP's and short FG's as I've seen enough from Graham to feel confident there. Holding, punting, and kickoffs scare me too death.

His dad Chuck, who has lived in Boulder for years, was the Big 8 commissioner and was tight with Eddie Crowder and AD bigshots. The AD has also paid dad as a consultant a number of times. As Hank Brown pointed out, and no one would follow up on, there are lots of financial irregularities at CU. This is totally giving money to a friend's family
