Kyle Ringo leaving Daily Camera

I had hesitated to post this since Kyle has not tweeted anything in a day. But it's an open secret at this point and all sorts of people (fans and media) have been saying goodbye to Ringo. I also saw on Rivals a mention that Ringo had announced on FB, but couldn't find it.

So much is changing with CU athletics. I guess it stands to reason that the media would also turn over as a new era was being ushered in.

Henderson retired.
Brooks retired.
Kensler is retiring.
Woelk is back on the CU beat -- but working for CU.
Ringo is leaving the Camera, making Howell the top dog who will cover football & MBB.
Whelan left Rivals to move to Brooklyn.
Koenigsberg is at the new BSN Denver digital sports paper, having left Rivals.

It's at that point where I'm waiting to see what's next.

All good news. Maybe the corner is being turned afterall.

BTW, thank you for removing that GIF from your posts.

Not that he was real connected to CU, but Ben Hochman seemed to be a fairly pro CU guy when he did write something. He left The Post for the St. Louis paper. Bummed me out 'cause I liked him.

the ship is sinking

By all accounts, Ringo is a nice guy. He's also one of the laziest sports columnists I've ever come across. He brings no exceptional insight or deep reporting to his writing. The best thing we can say about him is that he's better than Hendo or Kizla. That's not setting a terribly high bar.

Ringo had a good gig, made some memories, earned some money, saw "the world".

Good luck during the next chapter in his career.

Cheers.

Pat Rooney, former BoCoPreps editor takes on CU assignment. Solid guy. Does his homework. Works hard to establish relationships. Good writer.

It's got to be hard as Hell to get people to go to work for newspapers these days. The good ones left the business long ago, the mediocre ones are leaving now. Nothing against Rooney, but the trajectory on this career path seems tenuous at best.
