I am sure others feel this way and may have already expressed it in other threads. Like everyone on AB, I dedicate a lot, really too much, of my life to following a ****ty football team in the hopes things will eventually turn around and constantly looking for any excuse to believe.

Like many on here I was believing that this season was the one to turn things around. Was not convinced we would get to a bowl, and in fact in a recent season prediction thread I suspected we would lose one of our 4 opening games and actually predicted Hawaii. However I thought it was because it would take Leavitt longer to get the D improved. They were far from the biggest problem today.

-OL pass protection was disgusting given we had 3 returning starters.
-Our Special Teams continue to be nauseatingly bad and there is no excuse for that with the depth we now have
-Sefo was under way too much pressure all day, but even when he wasn't he missed on all his deep balls and he has been a starter too long for that to happen so consistently
-Bad game management by HCMM and Sefo cost us too often
-Too many stupid mistakes cost us on both sides of the ball and ST

I could go on and on but I am sure this has all been covered ad nauseam in other threads.

But enough is enough. We have all suffered through this **** show for a decade now. I really believed in HCMM as the guy to right the ship (even though I wasn't sure if he was a guy who could get us to Pac 12 titles) but Hawaii made me for the first time, seriously doubt him because we were not prepared to play and beat a team we were supposed to beat. That has to be on him.

So this long winded post is to say adios to the Buffs and to AB for the season at least. Some of you know I recently moved to Barcelona (from Santiago) and it has been hard enough following a ****ty team from so far away with very different time zones. On top of that I am now living in the city with arguably the best team on the planet in the beautiful game (futbol or soccer) and I just can't keep dedicating my time, energy and passion to a team that has consistently let me down for 10 years now.

I know this may sound like I am a fairweather fan although I definitely don't think of myself that way. I am just tired of staying up late during the off season to track recruiting and doing the same to frequently be completely disappointed on game days.

I do think some day CU will turn things around. Whether it is with HCMM or Rick George's own hire (I remain 100% confident in him still) I am not sure. Whether it is this year (VERY doubtful), next year or years from now remains to be seen. At some point I will come back in but maybe not as committed as I have been. I am just tired of the never ending disappointment.

To all of you ABers with stronger stomachs than I have, keep up the fight (although maybe a bit less in fighting would be nice :)

Been nice "knowing you" guys.

Adios amigos.

How are you going to know when to come back, if you don't check out what's going on? (Ha, gotcha...)

Get your act together, Boyd.
It seems just like yesterday when you were the optimistic one, lecturing the crusty and cynical to join you in your positive and optimistic outlook because, you know, a fan's level of optimism and positivity fuels the program.

And now look at your broken and beaten self.

What part of "never give in" do you not understand?

When you are ready, you will be welcomed into the tough love/show me camp.

Damn sunshine pumpers.

Cancelled all my sports packages. I'm sure my wife will be happy I'm free 4 more hours on Saturday.

So true. I guess Tini and Forest Gump have me beat as an eternal optimist. An optimist can only remain an optimist when the subject of their optimism could offer some modicum of optimism for a glass half-full optimist :) (Of course unless you are off your rocker, than you are just Tini :)

I do wish the Buffs and you guys well and will certainly read ESPN to find out how things went.

Quitter. Come to the dark side, predict doom and gloom every game and then you can be pleasantly surprised twice a year. It is way easier than thinking things have actually improved with the team. And the beer taste better on the dark side.

At least wear one peice of CU gear to the FC Barça games at Camp Nou.

Trying to care less about CU football, but remaining so distraught after 1 loss, to make a dramatic, announced exit from an anonymous forum... (y)

You could say he was...defeated.

The blocked punt, the 21 yard punt, and the dumb fumble sucked. But we hit two legit FGs, had a nice return brought back on a silly flag, forced a turnover that got brought back on a flag and nearly forced another fumble, and our coverage team was always right there on both punts and kickoffs.

The special teams outperformed my expectations at least lol. It was the offense that killed me.

Well, Boyd, sad to see you go, but I understand your sentiment. Hope to hear from some day down the road. Never made it to Santiago, I wish we could have....but plans changed.

Just to be clear, the OP states that the team met his expectations as proved by his prediction. Prediction pans out, and then he decides to quit being a fan?

Why didn't he quit when he made the prediction?

Oh Boyd, stupid to the end. Whose going to start useless threads?

You know DBT is still kicking around right?

Nice to see some of you guys are consistent. Burrito likes being a dick. I said I thought we might lose because JL would need some time to get that ****ty defense playing close to our offense from last year. But this game was a cluster **** that had little to do with JL needing more time (which was a legitimate, IMHO, reason for a potential loss in the opening game of the season so far from home.) Well at least my departure makes Burrito and Duff happy.

Barcelona is better than Santiago anyway :) If you come this way and want to catch a Barca game or something let me know.

Just to be clear on the tone, was that a "well, you guys won't have me to kick around any more...?"

I still think you'll be back.
