When I watch our Buffs – even in their loss, I see belief, hope, and an unbounded (if not sometimes misdirected) desire to succeed. I see errors of effort, mistakes of intensity, and even simple human imperfection. It is unquestionably clear that each of them strive not just for themselves but for their teammates, their coaches, and – yes – even for us. This is a group of young men upon which the weight of so much negative history unyieldingly rests. They are not responsible for ten years of difficulties, ten years of administrative struggles, ten years of less than optimal choices and results. Yet, in each mistake they make, it is obvious the personal responsibility of this massive weight that they have taken upon themselves to craft- through their own sweat and struggle - a new, brighter future.

How can any of you distain this? It is not properly presented to you as a feast for your gluttonous enjoyment?

Is there any question as to the absolute commitment Mike Macintyre has made to each of his players, to each of his coaches, and to each “fan”? Is there any question of his qualifications or ability to lead, organize, inspire, and motivate?

Yet, such anger. Such frustration. Such vitriol.

I wonder about people capable of turning their backs on the good faith of others so easily. Don’t spout to me the length of time you have “suffered” in hopes of just a reasonable chance at a winning season. Your effort is minimal. Your “commitment” requires no sacrifice. Your “pain” exists only in your own mind, as you selfishly wager your emotional angst only on a positive result over which you have no control; and then, you chide those who do not provide it to you.

If you were eight years old, you’d be sent to your room without dinner, and still the behavior has not outgrown the developing loss of your hair. Somehow the imagined language o the back of the ticket stub you lord over the justifications for your immaturity guarantees every “buyer” fair basis to spout such self-important nonsense.

None of those who slap their bathwater in tantrum should be permitted the exultation of the successes that will – someday – arrive. Of course, there is no doubt, they will fully suckle at the pleasurable emotions of those days, with no guilt over the barbs issued nor concern at the hypocrisy of their easy vacillations.

So, I ask one question: What does it mean to believe?

Win or lose, what right do those of us merely watching have to the fruits or spoils of the result? Why should those of us behind the sidelines feel the power to demand while offering none of the effort to succeed? Perhaps, again, you point to that small penance indecipherably inscribing the indelible compact to your attendance? Well, if the loss of a few dollars here and there forms the “sacrifice” upon which you are willing to abandon your heart and empathy, I wonder if you ever had either at any point.

I believe our Buffs will grow into a football force with which to be reckoned.

I believe that our Buffs will make many mistakes, and suffer more losses along the way.

I believe that each of them will ache for their mistakes and perceived inadequacies in ways I will never know and never be capable of remedying.

I believe that good, strong, bright, dedicated people do not always win.

I believe that good, strong, bright, dedicated people do not always have to win to represent the best of themselves.

I know that my team will always have my support, win or lose, good or bad, easy or hard.

I believe that is all I have to offer them.

I also believe it is the best I have to offer.

And, I wonder if such beliefs are slowly fading. They certainly are not “trending.”

I like it.

I woke up today saying "I will always support and cheer for this team. I will fly out to see them." I just may need to hold back on my expectations until they prove they can win. But that won't change my loyalty to them or keep me from seeing the effort they are putting in.

So here's the deal. When somebody signs up and immediately starts a thread, it points to an agenda. You have one.

The question is, what drives your agenda. Because when the fans feel frustrated and let down, is when the AD goes into spin control overdrive. Is that the master you serve? That's fine, I support the AD too.

But it does bring into question the sincerity, when you, or whomever you represent couldn't be part of the dialogue until you feel damage control is necessary.

Anger is often an outlet for frustration or grieving. In my opinion, it's less than prudent to shame the fans that are still passionate. It's when we're not frustrated by the loss of an MWC team that you should really become concerned.

Right now, we're the best you've got. We're still here.

Strong first post. High marks in the sanctimonious sector. What do you think message boards are for? To bitch and vent when the team you root for loses. I am sorry they do not match the high minded ideals of your code of fan chivalry. I echo Orr, we are the dwindling few who still care enough to at least bitch. If they keep playing like that, you will have even fewer to lecture (and possibly alienate).

Well yes, there is a question still to be answered when it comes to Mike MacIntyre's qualifications and his ability to lead, organize, inspire, and motivate at the P5 level.
And then there's that.

Burden of proof is on you Gawain. After watching last night's game, why don't you have questions regarding Coach's ability to organize, inspire and motivate? Because (and keep in mind, I'm a fan of HCMM's,) it didn't look like the team was organized, inspired or motivated at the Mountain West level. What is the source of your faith?

It has been 10 years of the same excuses. It's not anyone's fault, everyone tried real hard. Things will get better.

I liked your post however, I don't agree with all you said.
Couple of us on here actually sacrificed and bled to get this team to the top 25 years ago. I Believe we do have the right to hold the people that follow accountable for what they have inherited. I believe we do have the right to point out the mental deficiencies we see, lack of effort on the field ,lack of talent to complete at the PAC12 level. I will never leave CU behind, its blood, its family. But like family, I will however, discuss my displeasure with them ad hold them accountable

And it begins again. How many of these do we get with the start of every new season? I appreciate the sentiment but why didn't you deliver this a week a ago? Why now? And Lefty's right about sanctimonious. Perfect word for the condemnatory part of your diatribe.

Oh and by the way, did you mean distain or disdain??

tl;dr We all suck because bad bad fan

Heard it all before. Every year for last decade+

Reminds me of the poster who started the whole "IT"S YOU" thing a couple of years ago. Equally as stupid.

Your'e speaking to the wrong target audience. If you doubt the loyalty of the fans that post here your barking up the wrong tree.

OP doesn't take Pac12 football serious enough IYAM.

Less fan shaming. More accountability for the institutional drivers that have put us in this hole.

Did you get your thesaurus out to compose such eloquent prose? Give me an effing break. I'm guessing many millions of dollars have been given to the AD by AllBuffs members (in the form of donations and ticket and merchandise sales). Do you know how members got those dollars? Effort. Hard work. So your premise that CU fanboys have put no effort into this program and this team is horse****. Most of us are, quite literally, invested in this team.

I don't think it is too much to ask that the public face of my alma mater not embarrass itself for a decade straight. And don't give me this "tried their hardest" crap. I've seen more CU players quit on the field in the last 5 years than I can recall and it happened again last night. Even the ninth-string announcers for a network I'd never heard of were calling our players out for lack of heart.

I guess we as fans and supporters we are not allowed to question anything - just suppose to have blind loyalty and keep pumping out money. If you really cared you would be worried that Attendance has dropped drastically over the past few year and when the AD presented his budget he said it all hinged on attendance...it is dropping because people are getting tired of supporting without results.

A lot of us will be in the stands next afternoon while you won't be. Unless you are going to fly in.

So hi pot, meet kettle.

I put in a lot of time to get this new site up and running. I will love my alma mater until the day I die. Besides my diploma and yearly donation and tickets I also purchased a brick.

Accountability matters. It does. I wouldn't want to work with you. Loyalty only goes so far. But unlike the work place I cannot get a new alma mater.

Come Hell or high water I'll continue to be here. This is your first post. Stfu or gtfo.

Parents posting on a fan website never ends well. If fans are not allowed to be upset in loss, then mommy should recognize that the players deserve no praise in victory. It seems that you should have thrown out all those participation trophies instead of using them to buld a shrine to your child.

The fans can bitch all they want. Hey, Sir Gawain, the fans have a huge amount of control in the outcome in the game. In fact, no fans equals no scholarships, no fancy buildings, no equipment, no plane flights to Hawaii. I hate posts like these.
