Buffs vs. Arizona pregame thread

Must win. They have to make up for Hawaii and MM is on record that we will win some games this year and this is one of the realistic ones. On paper Oregon and ASU weren't.

Must win for bowl game hopes. Context is important for these kind of statements

Yes, but because the wheels will fall off if we lose again. Kinda like Strong and Texas in my eyes.

I suppose it fits as a must win. If we lose this one by 3 TDs or so, things are going to be really ugly. People see this as semi winnable, it's at home, it's been a rough couple of weeks.

Richrod's novelty offense/defense can be out schemed. Coaches this is a must win. Please ...have the guys prepared.

A win against a solid, but not great UofA squad puts us squarely on track for the 5-8/6-7 that a lot of people predicted around here. Hoping we may be relatively healthy for this one also.

This is -- by far -- the biggest game of MacIntyre's tenure.

Get a win and it changes everything. A loss and this thing is probably off the rails.
This seems revisionist. Did anyone really expect us to beat UO, ASU, or U of A preseason?

LINE SHUFFLE: No one knows yet whether left tackle Sam Kronshage — who missed Saturday’s game because of a concussion — will be available to play this week. If not, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see regular right tackle Stephane Nembot play on the left side another week and Shane Callahan take over on the right side.

Glad to see the coaches are finally putting Shane where he belongs. Took them long enough.

Also, Sefo had a rough night, but he isn't the problem.

LIUFAU’S NUMBERS: CU’s quarterback finished with 389 yards passing on 25 completions in 40 attempts, with one touchdown and an interception. It was the second-most passing yards in his career, topped only by the 455 he had against Cal in a double-overtime loss last season.

389, 9.7yd/att 62% 1TD 1INT 1FUMBLE

Both turnovers are directly related to the poor play of the offensive line. The INT Sefo threw as a defender drilled him in the back. The fumble, Sefo got strip sacked.

10pts on poor OL play and slow decision making by the QB.
14pts off stupid ****ing dumb luck

Margin of victory was 25pts.

This is why you'll notice I don't take season prediction threads seriously and don't really participate. You're talking about preseason expectations and complaining about a revisionist future. That's ridiculous.

Preseason, ASU & UO both figured to be around top 15 teams, UA about the same. So far, opponents are much worse than expected and the Buffs still aren't performing. That script needs to change and people are running out of patience. This week is huge.

yea, our OOC was laughably weak. Our P12 slate isn't is bad. need to start winning.

The players are mad and aren't going to take it anymore. Awesome. They're starting to sound like the fans.

Doesn't the team normally have Mondays off? They're in Folsom practicing on the live cam right now. Maybe Mac's decided to work them a little harder, while still being within the NCAA mandated contact hours limit of course.

changed practice time due to getting back so late from ASU. if anything, he's doing the opposite of going harder. Given the injury status of our OL and LBs + no bye week, going harder would be a bad choice.

Thank you. Well said. Team has already blown two winnable games.

Don't think they flew back until Sunday morning. So maybe Sunday was a travel day. That or his QB couldn't walk on Sunday.

Going hard would be a bad choice? For a team that has lost 13 consecutive conference games and constantly finds ways to throw games away? Ok, then.

Not sure how that rebuts my points, but yes.

So, because there are some injuries, going easier on them will turn this team around? It will get them to stop throwing interceptions, missing blocks, missing tackles, dropping passes, and not taking care of their assignments on defense and special teams? Mac just needs to be nicer. Got it. Not that it matters because I'm sure he's using the maximum number of hours allotted by the NCAA, but this team is marshmallow soft and it wouldn't kill them if the coach got on them a bit.

It seems like every week is a must win.

AZ has lost to fULCA and Stanford, but still is the same team that played in the CCG, with most of their pieces returning. It is a home game, but I have a little trouble putting this one in the probable win column, especially given what we have seen fro our beloved Buffs. Nevertheless, hope springs eternal...go Buffs.

Completely changing coaching styles in-season to the hard ass approach won't work. That mentality needs to be instilled from day 1 of offseason training and continued until the team goes into weekly game prep routine. Beating the **** out of the players, mid season, because they are out-manned in the trenches isn't going to do anything except wear them down even more.

I am actually calling this a must win in my head. If we lose, especially by a drubbing? Me thinks MM starts losing the team a little.
