Are people really mad at BL?

Listen, I know the play calling has been suspect at times this season but today was one of the best games I have seen him call. Ran the ball when needed to, dialed up great play action, wide open receivers, if Ross doesn't drop a couple td passes we think he is God today.

I understand being mad at him sometimes but today is not that day

This is a ****ing joke, right? Ran the ball when he needed to? Did you miss the first four redzone opportunities? You know, when they ran the ball effectively up the middle the entire drive then get in the redzone and BL ****s his pants calling pass plays and sweeps.

He was great outside the 20, but come on. Inside the red zone he was ****ing awful.

Sefo should have kept the ball on the second down run in the red zone, that isn't on BL. The sweep is what opens up running lanes and had been doing so well the whole game. He used the run to set up the pass and when we went pass it worked, we just dropped touchdown passes. Yes he could have had better play calls in the red zone but calling for him to be fired after this game is so stupid. The offense was rolling but the pick six hurt and that wasn't the OC'd fault, it was an accuracy issue.

I'm so sick of people saying that pick-6 was an accuracy issue.

I've been as hard on Sefo as anyone, and he shouldn't have thrown the ball, but his arm was hit. That's why the ball sailed. Of course, if you're going to get on him for throwing in that situation, you have to ask why the play was a pass play at all.

You sir, are an idiot.

Yeah I can see that, I just can't blame a pic six on play calling. That is all.

His play calling and game plan was much better in this game. And on the Pick 6, I agree that our receiver could've done better but also that it was a poor pass. At the time I blamed the receiver. I'd have to see a replay but I thought he had his hands on it first. But the pass there has to be lower.

Lindgren and Walters are the only offensive coaches I kinda support at the moment.

I agree with you on this. But I would include Adams as well. I'm pretty pleased with the backs. And while it's a low bar, he's been one of our better recruiters.

I'm nowhere near as plugged into the program as you. If it is more than just he slipped your mind, I'd be interested to hear why Adams is in your doghouse.

Lindgren isn't the problem, IMO. He does a really good job mixing things up, which is one of the reasons we are so successful on offense. I do believe he needs to think about a philosophy change in the red zone. Go with what got you there that drive instead of continuing to mix it up and getting away from what was working.

Just ambivalent, no real issues with him. Only guy who needs to be gone for certain I at the end of the year is Neinas.

Fair enough, although I would counter that the abandonment of the run in the red zone on that possession directly led to the pick-6

I thought Lindgren called a good game today. Maybe the sweep at the goal line was a bad call; but that is just 1 out of 114.
I really liked the way he used Sefo's strengths with designed run plays and mixed in passes that he was comfortable throwing.
The first drive of the third quarter was perfect.
Also loved the bomb to Ross and deep out to Irwin.
If we can get a better qb coach/ OC and upgrade the staff, we should; but, Lindgren was good today.

I'm not a fan and think we need a real P5 OC, but like Sefo, he's the best we can do right now. Neither of those 2 are clutch and if we need to depend on the O to win in the 4th, were ****ed.

My issue with BL was his calls inside the redzone. He went away from what was working on the rest of the field. UCLA could not consistently stop the run between the tackles and when we needed yards and points the most he abandoned those runs.

For sure on Neinas. Jeffcoat and Bernardi are the other 2 for whom I hope we find upgrades in the offseason.

Exactly, I think he called a great game. If Ross catches either of those balls, then we wouldn't be having this discussion. I say hats off to BL, he called his best game. I still think we need to upgrade at OC this off-season (assuming MM is retained).
