I think CU and maybe OSU should be relegated to the Mountain West this year with the top two in the MWC moving up to p12 for next year. This is only fair. Plus, I think it gives CU a chance to get their act together and build a winning attitude. Learning how to win is a big deal. Move back up when you win the MWC.

Yeah... And Michigan with their 100,000+ capacity stadium should've been in the MAC when they were struggling.

I think this is a good idea for any conference. Kansas should be relegated for sure. Along with KSU. Why should someone like Houston not be able to move up?
Maryland and Purdue, out.

I think we should relegate you to Netbuffs

I like the idea of relegation, but not in college football or college sports in general. There is too much forced turnover in the lineups. But in pro-sports, it seems like a great thing as you wouldn't get teams losing on purpose to get better draft picks if it meant they would be relegated to a lower league. It would make the end of the season more exciting.

Speaking of that, are there not drafts in professional soccer?

That's a legit point. Maybe an option is aggregate performance over five years. If you can't compete, then another school should deserve a shot.

I don't think most leagues have drafts. Euro clubs have their systems/clubs that run down to the youth level. Even then opposing clubs freely poach from another team's farm/club.

It's also very interesting that athletics is completely separated from academics in Europe. The clubs are actually pretty cool, well funded, community supported, etc.
