Les Miles Watch 2015

Unleash Hell

Well-Known Member
The last couple CU coaching searches, Les Miles has always been a name thrown out as a possible candidate to land the job. The Man has a lot of history coaching at CU. It has been a far fetched possibility and often brought up laughs about CU's chances of luring him away from one of the top programs in the country.
However the rumors are swirling in the Bayou that Les could soon be on the hot seat.

Fans are fed up with Miles' inability to develop a QB, motivate players, and poor results in big games. His lone national title was compromised mainly of Saban's recruits.

With that said does CU even want him? If he is feeling the heat with top tier talent, what's he going to do with MWC talent at Colorado?

As of right now CU will probably have Mac back next year, but by this time next year could this be looking like a more possibility?

I think Les Miles would be able to not win the big games here just as well, and with Saban's recruits, could probably head for a national championship, too. I'm in complete agreement. Since he can't get it done in LSU, he should have the chance to not get it done at Colorado, too. There's nothing wrong with aiming lower - just imagine what the competitor recruiters could say to interested high schoolers.

There is one good thing - LSU has a lot of players in the NFL. And quite a few have come thru during Miles' tenure. Isn't getting a good job after years in college what college is all about? The Les Miles Camp could make some points on that argument.

Perhaps a more serious knock against Les is his recruiting terrain familiarity. Does CU want to go back to depending on the State Of Texas for their recruiting base, or move onto Calif? Les hasn't done so well getting Florida recruits out of there - he's losing 9-of-10 to other schools. I suppose that's not a terrible percentage considering the huge number of open-arms those recruits are greeted with, but they're also promised "visits home" because of the SEC schedule. Remove that argument from Les Miles' vast arsenal, and what's left? "Look at how beautiful this campus is - the mountains, the snow, the forests! The widdle bunny wabbits..." Uh... wanna guess how influential those factors are in a 17-year-old Miami academy recruit's life?

"...align to make this a very good possibility."

Ugh. I wish you'd use "very likely" instead of any use of the "good" word in this context!

Just saying LM is past his prime, and CU, if they upgrade, should look for a younger prospect.

If, big IF, Les Miles were available, we would be standing in a long line, no where near the front. Other schools are already camped out just in case.

Everybody knows he's going to Michigan after Harbaugh takes the Colts job

He'd improve this program for a number of reasons. One, fundraising for the entire department would go through the roof with a hire like that. Two, he could go get better coordinators-which isn't saying much offensively. Three, look at some of the names on his staff, especially one in particular....Ed Orgeron is down there. He's one of the best recruiters in the country.

Here's what you're getting with this hypothetical- a coach who has won a title and played for another, not to mention multiple SEC titles. That's a resume, which is something we haven't had here since Gary Barnett came back from Northwestern, and I'll take the results he got here any day. We've gone the up and coming group of five coach two of the last three searches. Hawk was a disaster and MM has done a job that can be described as adequate at best. What makes you think next year's Tom Herman/Justin Fuente/Bryan Harsin would be any different? If Miles would take this gig, it's a no brainer.

I would fire HCMM in 5 seconds if we could land Miles. I have no doubt that Miles and his staff would recruit far better than anything we have seen in the last 9 years.I miss the days of complaining about only wining 8 or 9 games and bitching about poor coaching in the 3 or 4 losses. It would be way better than bitching about 3-4 wins and the crappy coaching in the 8-9 losses every year.

I think this ship has sailed. Great coach, but not what the Buffs need moving forward.

He currently has the #1 recruiting class in the nation.

I don't care if he plays with himself all game if he's bringing in top 5 recruiting classes every year.

But do you care if he's wearing a coat and hat when it's 25°F?

I would have continued to support this goober if he'd recruited and won.

So, yeah. Anything short of a Penn State type scandal and I'm good.

Les would bring a real staff and recruit waaaaaaaaay better. I'll take the disappointment with fighting for the conference championship each year even if we don't win it but once in four years. Yeah, I'll take that chance.

If the CU AD were to reach out to Les, I doubt it would be RG and I doubt we would ever hear about it.
I was meaning him, or whom ever he has doing his dirty work for him. Pretty much sounds like a done deal Les is gone. We better be the first knocking on his door.

Likely won't be. Some HUGE jobs open right now. Les would probably have his pick of. He would be cheap too, because he is gonna get paid regardless.

I don't think that there's a Les Miles discount right now. Les likes his money and would structure something to make sure it was a financial win for him vs taking a broadcasting job or something.
