Aggy QB Kyle Allen announces he's transferring

Of course you inquire and of course you take him if he wants to come here.

Even programs that have been regularly competing for conference titles in recent years take quality QBs in and let competition sort it out. No way in hell should CU think it should simply move forward with the development of guys who signed here out of high school. You have to take every opportunity to foster competition, upgrade talent and get better.

(I'm thinking back to when Russell Wilson was transferring from NC State and was playing minor league baseball for the Rockies. When I took the position that CU should try to use that baseball connect to get him here, people came at me strongly to say that you can't do that to Tyler Hansen -- who still had a redshirt year available anyway. Hopefully those attitudes have changed.)

Buffs have sefo, i doubt MM would bring in knight or allen. I would asap, but MM?

If they are interested, get leavitt a case of pepsi and let him go to work.

If that is true, MM won't be a P5 coach for very much longer. You have to always try and improve your team and if there was any interest I would think he would take it. He can't play this year anyways, so has nothing to do with Sefo.

He's stated he'd like to go to a school where the current starter is a Senior next year...but then also said that scenario made OU come to mind.

I was thinking more of knight. Other than the few comments hete, don't know much about allen. I would take them both though.

5 stars >4 >3. No Brainer.

Pretty much.

If I was recruiting and had a chance to sign all of the 20-25 guys rated 5* every year, I'd take that every time over getting to pick and choose the 20-25 4* guys I wanted... and I'd take that over being to pick and choose my 20-25 from among all the 3* prospects every year.

This is about stacking the odds in your favor, not about pointing the numerous individual exceptions we find after the fact. Because, yeah, I could go back and build a playoff team out of a roster that included the best 2* and unrated guys over the past 5 years. But if I build a roster by using my best efforts to project 20-25 of those guys every year out of high school in order to build a P5 team... the odds are very much against me hitting at a high enough average to have a decent team. The odds are very much on the side of my team sucking balls.

We are not talking high schoolers here. We are talking guys who are riding pine. Maybe they are an upgrade. Maybe not.

Of course, I just hope MM feels the same.

Wish I could tell you he'd be interested in Colorado in this scenario, but sadly it's just not the case. Even coming out of high school CU was never a school he was interested in.

Well, Allen is 9-5 as a starting QB in the SEC West. He got benched for struggling against the Alabama and Ole Miss defenses in back-to-back weeks (Olle Miss he had an elbow injury from the Bama game). Then he returned to 100%, got the starting job back, got the win at Vandy and then had ok stats in the season finale loss at LSU. Basically, aTm was 5-0 including that opening blowout of ASU before running into Alabama and Allen getting hurt.

Compare that to what we have at CU.

How dare you, our qb won 3 straight games vs a mwc team and two intramural teams.

Bingo. But hey, much better to roll with what we have going forward... which, BTW, is what exactly?

David Fales was MM's savior at QB at SJSU.

Fales was recruited by the Nevada Wolfpack, then he transferred to Monterrey Penninsula Juco, then he transferred again to San Jose State and led MacIntyre's team out of the cellar.

Based on this history, seems like MM is exactly the kind of coach to be looking for QB value picks in the aftermarket.

No question you take him if he wanted to come here. Sadly, I doubt he would. Hell, he would start day one.

Allen will not be able to transfer to Colorado because we are a future non-conference opponent of the Aggies. As part of his release from A&M, he can't transfer to an SEC school, or a future non-conference opponent.

He's from Scottsdale az, probaby asu or wildcats.

I think there was a personality conflict with Graham during recruitment. But other than that, it's looks like a great fit for him. Maybe the OC change there is a positive and that's where the disconnect was.

*****-Rod hired a Scottsdale-area high school coach to his staff so you know UA will be pressing for Allen's services too. They were the first destination for Conner Brewer when he left Texas.
