Highly doubt that this was his choice.
Takes a lot of talent to screw up with all the advantages he has at U$C but he has managed and in some cases spectacularly.
He may be a hometown hero but some of the $$$$$$ boosters probably finally reached their limit with him.

It's easy to look at USC and wonder how anybody could screw that up. Thing is, it's hard to maintain success. You can have all the advantages in the world, but if you make one mistake in hiring, the whole thing crumbles. USC got incredibly lucky when they hired Pete Carroll, and have been trying desperately to duplicate that success since he left. It's not as easy as it sounds. The expectations at a place like USC are ridiculous, too.

Yeah, they've been in CU type of shambles since Pete left. Haven't been in the p12 title game or had AAs or good recruiting classes.
Their bottom sounds great to me. Expectations should be high.
