Bummer. Ed and Lisa must have a ton of frequent flyer miles. With all the walking through airports they do, great that Ed goes to Good Feet.

This really disappoints me. I was hoping that one of them would adopt the home state. I guess we have one more shot. **** Valor!

Oh, how shocking, another Valor kid decides he's too good for CU.

Pardon me for not pouring on the "good for him" stuff. I'm tired of seeing this kind of thing. It's a free country and he's free to go wherever he wants. I don't have to be happy about his decision.

I agree with you. I'm not going to bash him. But he gets no praise either.

Get control of yourself and maybe take a break from the board for awhile. Your reaction to the decision of this kid seems a bit out-of-bounds.

First off, why does Dylan or his family owe you or CU anything?? A HS kid and his family weighed their options and made a choice that best fits his needs and wants, not yours.

Secondly, it's possible to be happy for Dylan while also being disappointed that we won't have him on our team.

Don't be a petulant sh*t.

I don't think people are particularly upset with Dylan. Like you said he and his family do not owe CU anything. Its a building frustration with the high school, Valor Christian. They play outside the lines. They have done very little, if anything, good for the state of Colorado as a whole on an athletic level. They have been evicted from CHSAA because they win by breaking the rules, so they aren't helping competition at the high school level, and they don't support the state schools at the D1 level. Very, very frustrating.

yea, last kid we got from valor didn't work out that well, must mean something about valor maybe??

Any family who lives in Colorado has reaped benefits from the existence of CU. Whether it's because a CU alumni designed or oversaw the building of critical infrastructure that they use every single day, or because the medical school educated some of their medical providers or advanced the knowledge of a disease to which someone in their family is susceptible, or even if it's just the fact that the school has educated a meaningful part of the community within which they live, every single family in Colorado benefits from CU.

That doesn't mean they are obligated to support or attend CU, but one would hope that occasionally some of them would feel a bit of an obligation to give back to the community that has given them so much.

Interesting opinion, simply not one that I share- even as a proud CU alum.

This has nothing to do with Valor.
Of course not. You can't blame a blue chip QB recruit who decides to go play under Harbaugh at one of the blue blood programs. That doesn't change the fact that Valor Christian football is not great for the high school game in CO, and indirectly does create a problem with in-state recruting. How many P5 players have been through that program since it's existence and how many of those have left the state? Is there even a single one who has chosen CU?

I didn't think we'd get him anyway really. I'd have loved to have him but oh well move on. TShek, I've seen public schools recruit in Texas. It's not good but it goes on.

So how bout we start a thread on whether or not private schools are good for CO prep athletics?

And move this **** out of a recruit thread... since no one thinks Valor pressured him away from CU or that Dylan would have been a Buff if he played for some other CO high school.

Some of you guys have an axe to grind. Don't grind it in recruit threads.

Eat sh^t. Then re-read what I posted. He can do whatever he wants, just don't ask me to be gracious about it. I root for one team and one team only - CU. if he wants to go somewhere else, screw him.

I don't have an axe to grind with Valor at all. I don't know much about them really. Good luck to him.

When Mullen did similar things to what Valor is doing now they were still somewhat loyal to the state and felt connected with the city of Denver. Valor is a little different, they feel little connection to the state and city of Denver, and honestly to Douglas county as they see themselves above all of the local high schools (Highlands Ranch, Mountain Vista, Thunder Ridge, Rock Canyon). Mullen had a deep connection with inner city Denver and under privileged kids but Valor is more of a suburb school with a ton of rich parents who are not from this area.

They sound like what Permian used to do. They got away with it for a long ass time. Not all those guys were from Odessa, trust me.

Don't worry, I would certainly never accuse you of being gracious.

Valor has done a great disservice to Colorado by increasing the quality of recruits coming out of the state! This shall not stand, sir!
No, just a great disservice to the other high schools in the metro area who have lost their best players over the last 9 years to Valor's recruiting efforts, as well as the general competitive balance of the in-state game... both of which does greatly affect in-state recruiting.

It sucks that we're the only state in the nation that has to deal with this.

No, but many states have separate leagues for public and private schools, specifically to create a level playing field.
Is there anyway to regulate it though? They are an academy yes? I'm asking Idk.
No, CHSAA can't really regulate any of this because they are a private school and they can accept any athlete they want, regardless of where the kid lives. The only thing CHSAA can do is force them into an "Independent" league that essentially plays a national track schedule and isn't included in the Colorado state playoff tournament.

Can anyone honestly say that CU is an ideal situation for these kids at this time (or has been since D2 took over)? I don't blame them for looking elsewhere. If MikeMac can turn this thing around this season then we're gonna start seeing more interest in CU.

Well how many private schools are up that way?

As far as private high schools in Colorado go, there are only a few that could seemingly compete in the same league as Valor and those are Regis and Mullen (and Mullen would get beat by Valor 40-3 in all likelihood). There just aren't enough private schools in CO to create a whole new league with their own playoff tournament.

Kinda what I figured.

It has to do with both Valor and McCaffery. Is Valor nothing more than a training ground for the best athletes in the state, just so they can go elsewhere?
People come to Colorado for the opportunities that exist here. The lifestyle, etc. those things don't exist without the backing of a solid system of higher education. To a degree, we ALL owe CU, DU, and yes , CSU a debt of gratitude for helping shape the state we live in. Eddie Mac could have gone anywhere after he retired, but he stayed here. So now it's OK for his kids to go anywhere BUT here?

FU.CK that.

It pisses me off. This mercenary attitude annoys the Hell out of me. I'm not interested in hearing how much he loved Michigan or that his Dad went to Stanford.
