Is Klayton Adams the second best recruiter on the staff behind Chiaverini?

Adams really seems to be hitting his stride now that he's coaching his position and more established with his NoCal connections. Has made some quick headway in Las Vegas, too. He and Chev also have a good chemistry (great chemistry with Leavitt, too).

I don't know that he's a better recruiter than Tumpkin, but so far he is having a better year.

Definitely think that is the case so far in 2016. I think Chev has rubbed off on Adams in a huge way and has found his way. If he can put the coaching together with his Oline, he will become a hot commodity one day.

Probably good to see some fluctuation between recruiters from year to year, it means they aren't getting complacent and want to pull their own weight, pretty much the opposite of what was happening the first two years where they were dragged down.

It's kind of subjective isn't it? I thought it was a team effort.

Kind of subjective. Hard to avoid being too influenced by twitter activity. But if we look at their respective geographies and their respective position groups, it's pretty clear that Chev is a much better recruiter than Lindgren for example.

"Team effort" in regards to recruiting is nice coachspeak. Does not take much digging to figure out coaches who excel in recruiting and those that struggle.

:D

Yeah. On any team, there are stars and then there are a number of "just a guy" people. Like how you could have filled the Cavs roster with a lot of different combinations of players after starting with LBJ & Kyrie and you would have ended up with a very similar result.

It's a team effort, for sure. But what you're pointing out and asking is: who are our LBJ & Kyrie coaches on the recruiting trail... and has Adams now risen to that superstar group?

Lindgren is JR Smith. Teams still pursue him, although we are not 100% certain why that is. Scares us as much, if not more than he scares the opponent. Needs a lot of assists and reminders on maintaining focus from our LeBron, but may be a necessary major contributor to the rise.

Jeffcoat is Richard Jefferson. Used to ball out when dbt was his in 60s, but now it's easy to forget he's still in the league. Except he has a real shot to come up big when it matters most, the finals, by landing Rogers and Elliss.

Bernardi is Tyronn Lue. We're not sure how he got hired or what he does now, but dammit he's still going to get his pac12 championship ring this year for his contributions.

My Mama use to say "the proof is in the pudding".

So did mine. And it makes no sense. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating" is the correct saying, but most people say it wrong.

Did anyone else find it odd that when MM was asked about Chev's impact he basically said we're finally seeing the efforts he made 18 months ago by fixing the recruiting structure with RG.

I think it was just the standard, awkward MM you see a lot when he talks with the media. He was trying to avoid throwing former assistants under the bus and it just came off in a weird way.
