LINCOLN — One of Nebraska’s highest-profile assistants, wide receivers coach Keith Williams, remained in jail Sunday after being arrested on suspicion of a third DUI offense.

Williams, 45, was involved in a car accident at 1:50 a.m. Sunday in downtown Lincoln at the intersection of 9th and N Streets, according to a Lincoln Police Department accident report. Williams had a blood-alcohol content of .150 — nearly twice the legal limit — and was detained in Lancaster County Jail.

First of all, this is clearly an alcoholic who needs help. I wish the best for him. Outside of his addiction, sounds like he's a pretty cool guy.

Now that the mature response is out of the way... **** Nebraska!!! This is the guy leading the way with the "Calibraska" recruiting. Of course. But I expect the Lincoln system to let him off with a suspended sentence and for him to be coaching all season.

Or they might not let him coach in the first quarter of the Rhode Island State game.

Twice the legal limit , so that's about two beers and then driving right after. Shame !!! (But pretty sure most people leaving Chile's on a Sunday afternoon could smacked with that)

I was surprised that the Lincoln cops didn't give him a ride home until I read that he was involved in a crash. It probably tied their hands since there was another party involved.

This is a huge set back to the #calibraska recruiting effort. That combined with the fact that #gbr brings up a British flag due to the Olympics is really going to cause the hordes of Fusker fans who are tweeting recruits to be creative.

I heard the other party was the Penn State recruiter who said, and I quote, "I hope he gets the good a******ing he deserves!" to the officers investigating the rear ending incident.

Frankly, the guy should lose his job. There's no excuse for a 3rd DUI, never mind a 1st.

That shows ridiculous poor judgement and disregard for human life, and he should spend time in jail, not helping mold young men's life (at this juncture anyway).

Big Red will either fire him or suspend him for a year without pay or something, which will allow him to come back as a better man and save their recruiting class.

You would think 3 would be automatic jail time? definitely does not need to be coaching/molding young minds, even if they are fuskers.

Remember when Matt Russell got a DUI in Vail and it nearly cost him his job with the Broncos? He had to do some rehab and issue an apology and all kinds of stuff

Yeah, I remember that.

Appears police already reduced the charges to a misdemeanor.

"Hi Chief, I'm calling from the athletic department over at the university. Do you know that we need this guy recruiting for us? Might be a good career move to reduce his charges, heck you might just want to say that the accident was the fault of the guy he hit, shouldn't have be parked there anyways. Go big red."

Ohio State WR coach took a swipe at him on twitter....

The worst part about it is the support that a recruit like Tyjon Lindsey is giving him in a public tweet. The guy just got his 3rd DUI and you have idiot recruits publicly supporting him by saying "FreeDub"?? **** outta here with that.

It is the birthplace of L. Ron Hubbard. They have the cult thing down in this state and it shows. Come to think of it, going to Lincoln is probably very similar to a stint in Sea Org.

While Lindsey showed poor judgement, he's still 17 (?) years old. The grown adult fans commending him as 'wise' and 'mature' are by far worse, IMO.
