EA executive says NCAA football video game will be back ‘one day’

Wasn't it a plethora of lawsuits that stopped it in the first place? What makes it different now ?

Teams can now pay players a stipend or have figured out how to put the player royalties into an escrow account to be held until the athlete's college career is over? It would have to be something like that.

That is what I was thinking but seems like that would eat their revenue into the red and NCAA would have to approve.

I was never an EA football fan. I still miss the NFL 2K series. Played the crap out of that on Dreamcast and the first Xbox. So much more fun than Madden back in the day. 2K felt like you were playing. Madden felt like you were coaching. Haven't given the newer Madden versions a try, though.

Same here never could get into Madden. The EA NCAA game was always much more fun, but back on PS1 the 989 Sports games blew EA sports away. Especially with Keith Jackson doing the college football game.

Where did it go?
They stopped making it when athletes that couldn't make it as a pro decided to sue for their likeness being used in a college game, knowing very well they played as themselves for countless hours when the game came out and had no issue with it.
