Game was lost on a bogus picked up penalty flag

Colorado SHOULD have been up 24-7 and would have been at midfield with a first down and all the momentum after Lindsay was hit in the head late.

Instead a thrown penalty flag is mysteriously picked up. So much for protecting defenseless players...at least when Michigan is just about to get their doors blown off.

Starting the excuses a bit early, dontcha think? If we lose this game, it's most likely going to fall on STs, and particularly our punter, who isn't a P5 caliber talent.

The special teams gaffe that changed the game wouldn't have happened if the penalty had been upheld.

ST and the whole team just dropping a deuce in our pants. A hold here , dropped pass there, missed throw, missed tackles, dropped INTs

I won't say a bad call lost us the game but that is where the momentum changed. It was classic let a bad thing make the game worse scenario that the buffs have excelled at of late. I think we pulled out of the spiral but it is was a bit late, then sefo got hurt

Rewatching the game. Obviously late hit. Not sure how you throw the flag on that and pick it up. That was blatant late hit. That combined with the ass punt really changed the momentum in the game

Can't put it all in one play, but the reffing SUCKED! Made PAC12 refs look downright competent.

At risk of getting lynched...

I thought the officiating was just fine. On that potential late hit when they picked the flag up, I thought the defender slid and pulled up instead of hitting Lindsay. Late contact, but this is still football. I don't want those types of calls made & was good with it.

I did think the refs were allowing a lot of leeway with offensive holding, but it's not like it wasn't called that way both ways. Got to adjust.

In the end, Michigan made plays to win the game. CU didn't make those plays and also had some unforced errors. For most of the story, we don't have to look any farther than the punt team. Block, butt kick and then a lot of low drives straight at Peppers that led directly to points and short fields for the defense. Change the punting to even what usually represents a very poor day -- every punt giving you a 30 yard net -- and CU might win the game.

Special teams teams lost cu the game. It was very blatant to me.

This.

The second factor was Peppers.

The third was Michigan physically dominating the LOS in the second half (depth & athletes vs finesse).

I actually thought that was a good call. He didn't try to hit Lindsay he kinda fell on him and let up not to hurt him.

Jim Leavitt not knowing where he belongs on the sideline was also a big momentum killer. That drive should have resulted in points and he put us in a huge hole.
Does anyone know if the first sideline warning was for him too?

Yeah. Honestly, that is inexcusable. Hope it doesn't happen again.

I didn't the the hit was that bad, so I am ok with the no-late hit call. There were a couple of no-calls on PI that I too umbrage with, but I'm a biased fan so whatever.

This is basically the buffs in the game

Cannot use things like that as an excuse. You are playing a team like Michigan on the road, they are going to make a run. You have to respond it you don't momentum will shift.

First problem was the punt team. Killed us.

Second was Levitt being out after being warned back. Bad penalty at a bad time. Can't have those.

Third was dropped balls. Specifically two late in the game with Montez throwing. Two touchdowns there (Both should have been touchdowns) and we win the game even with D. Mac and Sefo hurt and the punt team doing their best Benny Hill impressions. Even two of the three things cleaned up and we would have beat the #4 team in the country at their house. Oh. And forth, kicking to the most dynamic punt returner in the country time after time after time. Stupid. Once and then go 'Well, that's a bad idea!' and stopping it? Ok. But over and over? Idiotic. Even skipping the last one and we are so much closer.

Why you gotta bring me in this? :D

I disagree about that flag...would we have still made those special teams gaffes which cost us the game?

I thought the worst penalty was Leavitt's sideline flag. That 15 yards and 1st down was a gut shot.
