Other games weekend of 10/27-10/29

Laramie is very underrated, MWC fans don't think too highly of it but compared to some of the other locations it is one of the best if you can deal with weather. Surprisingly they have some good facilities for football AND basketball. Camped at their football camp in high school for 4 years and it was always a blast (other than it snowing for a quick 15 minutes in June). It's a good school and I would rather go there than Boise, Albuquerque, Logan or Reno.

The words "Laramie" and "underrated" don't usually go together. I've been to Laramie. It's a glorified truck stop. The weather sucks. There's nothing to do in town. Kids at WYO who want to have fun take the 45 minute drive to Ft Collins.
It's a very tough place to win. Bohl has done something special there. I'm very happy for them.

It's a small town school which has it's appeal to certain kids. Definitely a tough job no denying that but Laramie isn't as bad as some people make it out to be.

had a blast at the BSU/Wyoming game. work buddy of mine is a huge BSU fan and has friends and family that go to all their games. Great game, and fantastic weather for Wyoming. Good crowd also, glad the Cowboy fans are appreciating their team.

Got to meet Jeb Putzier at the tailgate -- didn't know who he was when my buddy introduced me, but the size of that guy's hand when we shook made me fairly certain he was an NFL player.

Two of my best friends from high school played there under Dana Dimmel. I used to spend a decent amount of time up there. The only thing to do up there is get hammered on cheap beer at kinda depressing bars. The one thing it has going for it is that it's really hard to get in trouble up there. The local sheriff's dept has a boys-will-be-boys attitude.

If you're the kind of kid who would find Wyoming attractive, Laramie isn't going to change your mind.
I thought briefly about heading up there for that game. I regret not doing so.

Not a bad college life lol, if they could figure out how to get some hot chicks into the school it would be a lot better.

Utah continues to impress. I don't get how that team overcomes huge injuries every year but I wasn't sold on them until Saturday. That offensive line is beastly and their coaching staff is amazing. How has no big school swooped Wittingham out of there already?
Wasn't there talk last offseason about KW and the administration not getting along and they almost parted ways? I wonder if some of that still exists and we see him leave for a bigger opportunity if it presents itself.

Yeah he doesn't get along with them, he interviewed for the Nebraska job a year and a half ago and was rumored to be interested in USC. We will see this off season because he continues to show how good of a coach he is.

I had some friends from high school who went to Wyo for college, so one time a group of us went up from Boulder to hang with them. It was a mixed group of guys and girls from CU.

We went to one of the cheap bars you're describing, and the local guys descended on the girls from Boulder like locusts on the fields of Egypt. It was funny and yet disturbing at the same time.

The thing that I found odd about Wyo is that I couldn't find anyone at that school who was actually from Wyoming. Or anywhere other than Colorado, actually.

It's cheaper for Colorado kids to go out of state to Wyoming than it is to go to CSU instate. They give away so much money to go there.

No way, shape or form will CU be ranked ahead of the Huskers this season. LOL!"

Not only are you wrong, you've exposed yourself as a pathetic, stupid, mother ****ing troll! The classless Fuskers are profoundly overrated, and destined to dwell in the cellar of the B10... The whiny bitches of the B10.

Now, take your corn cob impacted ass and get the **** out of here. Better get your ****ing shine box ****stik! If that doesn't work out, perhaps you can go clean pools with your other washed-up, worthless, sack of ****, douchebag flunkies.

No go get your ****ing shine box, mother****er!

You know how the Huskers are dedicating this season to their punter who died (RIP)?

I was wondering how 'the best fans in college football' would react to some clever, punny sign making light of that kid's tragic demise.

I don't think they'd like it, or forget about it all that quickly.

Wyoming isn't a great school but it isn't bad either. As mentioned above they are a good out of state option for a reasonable price for a lot of kids from surrounding states.

If you like the outdoors there is a lot of good hunting, fishing, backpacking, etc. very close by and without a lot of competition for it.

In terms of the "social scene" it certainly isn't Boulder or most of the PAC12 cities but it is certainly comparable to most B12 cities that aren't called Austin or Norman.

I just think that their athletic future is going to be impacted by their limited ability to increase revenues to compete at the BCS level, they get good support from in Wyoming but I don't think there is a lot of potential to grow that.

I think Wyo can survive as long as the MWC remains. They've been getting 26k or so to some key games I believe. They've done a masterful job in the past getting power conference teams to visit.

Idaho appears to be the first victim. NMSU in serious trouble too
Wyo has such fantastic support throughout the state (albeit small population), that state will do anything to keep their Pokes at least somewhat relevant. My father in law was the architect of the new Laramie High School which overlooks the UW campus and the amount of money that that state and city are willing to put into education, athletics and their community is amazing. I can see them sticking around the upper half of the MWC for the foreseeable future.

BOOKMARKED!

All these people telling other people to get their f-Ing shine box seem to have forgotten what happens to Billy Batts.

No way, shape or form will CU be ranked ahead of the Huskers this season. LOL! None the less, it sucks to go down in overtime to a top rated team. I'm not sure if Ohio State can be beat in their house, but it will be a great game.

Oh, and it's great to see I'm still rolling around CVilleBuff's head like marbles in a jar. Thanks for the call out. GBR!
Saving this for two weeks from now.

I love the "go down to a top rated team" phrase. The huskers were rated above Wisconsin in the polls. It's like surveyor is agreeing with our assessment that nebraska is highly overrated.
I wonder when the last time a top 10 team was double digit underdogs to a team outside the top 10? Obviously, that game was much closer than most thought it would be. Wisconsin probably played their worst game of the year.

Well, it was like a bye week.

Wisconsin was sloppy on offense with ball security and was playing its first game on defense without its leading tackler. If Nebraska was a Top 15 type team, it would have won that game.

Agreed. Wisconsin did everything they could to give Nebraska that game, with turnovers and missed FGs and XP in overtime. Nebraska's opponents' win percentage before last weekend was .400, and many of those teams gave Nebraska a run for their money.

there were two turnovers committed by each team
Wisconsin missed the FG in the first half.

the missed XP in OT was inexcusable.
