AAA game and UAAA game

First, are any CU recruits in the UAAA game?

So far, Katoa and Scott haven't done much. LK looks a little lost out there even. The tough thing about these games is that players play a series then sit out a series or two. Very tough to get any continuity.

Man, you all know I'm old (fashioned), so I get really kind of sick of the posing and the "me/me" thing with the announcing their commitments. I also just get kind of disheartened at all the single moms out there. That is a cultural phenomena that really needs to change. (Sorry for the brief political statement there.)

Cunningham is in the Under Armour, as well as Major. Cunningham apparently has torn up practices.

 I'd be surprised and disappointed if anyone took offense to that political statement of yours. It's a sad and true fact these days, huh?

I think its cool seeing these kids pick out a college and the excited family behind them. A lot of them are probably the first in their family to go to college.

Did you hear the story of the McGuffie kid? Wow. Sounds like his parents are total losers. He raised his brother and sister. He sounds like a very impressive kid for overcoming that.

Brewster has an interception, BTW. So far, the east looks pretty dominate.

Is Brewster playing corner? I thought white corners went extinct about 20 mya.:wow: That kid Brandon Smith, I think, from New Jersey, he looked like a beast. I wish Hawk would have reeled him in. A huge safety.

Man, both telecasts could do a helluva lot better job identifing players who are on the field. Its almost impossible to follow certain players.

Katoa has missed a couple tackles, hasn't done much of anything.Scott has 2 rushes for like 5-6 yds. This is what all the hype is about?:wink2:

I thought KATOA was going to announce his decision, although he's commited to cu,his name is not on the ticker or any of the players who are going to declare, what's going on?

I watched some of the first half and Scott didn't have much room to run, plus like DBT mentioned they'll play a series, then sit out for a few series.

I hate seeing all these top-notch recruits who have committed to ND. :sad2:

Pryor has been pretty impressive at QB for the East. Talk about an athletic QB.

Man, the thought that some of these guys are going to college is kind of scary.

I do not think I will ever watch one of these games again. This sucked. What a wast of 3 hours. They could do a helluva lot more to enhance the broadcasts.

Katoa has been out of position all day.Who's the guy writing the articles saying he's been mvp during the week?

Seriously,I thought i'd see a hell of alot more from the 1# rb in the country and the #3 lb.

Is there a reason why katoa didn't declare or make an announcement like we were told?

It's a HS All Star game. Relax.

Scott got 2 carries so what are you going to do but katoa man...

I'll relax if I could get 1 person to explain why katoa didn't make a decision today like everyone said he was going to.

I know he's commited to cu but he was supposed to say something, what's up?

Pryor was the best player on the field, Katoa didn't do anything I could see, and the west caoch is a jackass. It looked like a 7 on 7 summer league. He ran about 2 running polays the whole game. the underwear game looked like a 100 players from texas, didn't really know any of those players.

That Pryor kid is good! He would be a perfect fit at Michigan with RR's offense. Cunningham was really good in the UA AA game. He put some pressure on the QB and I saw him stuff the #2 running back going to OU... Good stuff!

Givens looked like a TE! They talked about a recent sickness caused him to drop 20 pounds... He did pretty good considering a re-broken hand, and a recent battle with what seems to be anorexia. Did Major play in the UA AA game? It was hard to follow their telecast, poor camera work and coverage of players, not to mention it was hard to follow since it wasn't East Vs. West... Is there a reason Brandon Smith and Koehler didn't even have a Buffs hat on the table?

I agree with Valdez; relax... these are young kids and some don't have a lot of experiece at the sport, or the position.

Kotoa has been solid for CU for a while and he's been saying it all week. Oh and we have about a 70% chance of getting Scott. RELAX!

In what way?

In that some of them can't even form a sentence. I can't imagine them being able to perform academically. That is one of my big gripes about college athetics. There are a lot of kids that have no buisiness in a university. All they go for is to play sports. Add to that the fact that different schools have different standards, and you have a very unbalanced scale. I'm proud of CU for stressing academics. The other day a reporter asked Hawk about the possibility of Bernard Jackson getting another year of eligibility. His response was, "Bernard needs to worry about getting his college degree." CU does it right.

Ok. Thought it was either "man, they are dumb! how can they possibly get into college?" or "man, they are really good football players! it´s scary that the buffs might be up against them one day."

I understand what you're saying. On sort of a side note, Canada actually doesn't allow athletic scholarships at all, because they feel it takes away from the integrity of academia. Lots of these kids do go to school just for football and don't do anything in the classroom.

However, I respectfully disagree with your gripe about college athletics. I think that's one of the great things about about it - kids that are raised in environments that do not promote academics or encourage life goals are given a free ticket to potentially change improve their lives. Sure, many times due to the stress of winning, earning money, etc. making sure these kids are hitting the books is overlooked. This needs to change, and all coaches that use these kids as just football players, neglecting the kids' chances of furthering their lives, need a punch in their faces. I find them immoral actually.

These kids might not have the grades, SAT scores, or academic diligence to go to college, but I still think they should be allowed in. Honestly, for the ghetto kids, it's not ENTIRELY their fault, in my opinion. What they do with the free ticket is up to them, but why not give them a chance, even if they technically couldn't get into school based on academic merit alone?

Well, we can go off on a tangent with all this stuff. But I believe, in the long run, it would be better for the kids if the academic standards for getting into school, at the NCAA level, were raised. I also think that there should be an alternative for kids that aren't college material. Like vocational schools that, somehow, let them play "college" football. Maybe at a 1-AA or lower level. I don't know exactly how that would work, however. Maybe a college could have a set maximum number of kids on the football team that attend acredited vocational programs.

Even the announcers were dissapointed that with Pryor taking over for the East, the West was always behind, and therefore could not run the ball alot, and had to keep throwing it (they did not like that they did not get to see Scott runn the ball more). I did not like that you would see your guy that you were looking for, and if they did a three and out, you had to wait for another three series to see him again. That, along with the fact that backyard ball (WR's running patterns that turned into just looking for open space when the QB took off running) ruled the day meant not alot of RUns for DS. The East RB's still got runs in, but that was because they were ahead the whole time.
