CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

Georgia fan here. You guys just got a great coach. I hate to lose him but we all pretty much knew it was just a matter of time before he landed a head coaching job. He is going to be a great coach because he really has no weaknesses in my opinion. He is 1) a great recruiter, the best recruiter in the SEC perhaps; 2) an excellent X’s and O’s coach; 3) very good with player development and getting the most out of all his guys, whether they be 3 stars or 5 stars; 4) an awesome motivator who gets his team fired up, and you can tell they really want to play for him; and 5) a good person who won’t get involved in any scandals or off the field issues. Now obviously the main question is who he brings in as OC but I definitely would just trust his judgement here. I think there will be a lot of good offensive minds out there that will want to coach for him. And I believe his style will be to hire an OC he really believes in and then just let him do his thing without micromanaging or meddling in the offense too much. I think you guys are really going to be impressed with his recruiting; he has been largely responsible for us being in the top 3 in recruiting the last several years and closing the gap on Bama. I’ll be interested to see how highly rated of a class he can pull in for you next year. I’m excited for him and for you guys too!
This is the sign of a truly great program - that your coaches, and especially your coordinators, get poached for P5 head coaching jobs. Best of luck against Bama!

Seriously- this is so blatantly obvious that I’m left wondering if I missed some sarcasm in those posts.

Agreed lol. You’ll see some more tonight after the game but I doubt anyone touches it with a 10’ pole. Once the deal is signed Monday/Tuesday then CU will announce it.

This is an incredible hire. The fact is that nobody knows the level of success Coach Tuck will have here but we couldn't ask for a better hire. You pick the best candidate who has the intangibles, the character, the leadership quality and a good moral compass and put give him the keys to the car. If he gets us to the playoff in the next 5 seasons we will all claim we knew he was going to succeed. If he struggles we'll point out the fact that he didn't have west coast ties and we should have known better. The fact is RG went and got a a great, highly desired football coach. Frankly, I think we're fortunate there weren't other programs looking for a hire this year. Sometimes things just work out and in my opinion this just ended up working out really well.
Let's GOOOOOOOO COACH TUCKER!!!! **** 'em up coach tuck!

Waiting to see the coaching staff, especially oc and dl coaches but not sure about this hire. Most of you love it so I guess I'm nuts.

Plati could **** up a wet dream.

I get the criticism of Plati, and agree with some of it. But IMO anyone who essentially mentored Chris Fowler when he was a student at CU deserves to get cut some slack.
