'19 JC ILB Quinn Perry (SIGNED to COLORADO)

I hope HCMT creates an open competition for all positions and we see where the cards fall. But I also believe Quinn coming in allows Ham to redshirt, which is typically best for a program and the athlete.
It's definitely not typically best for a program and athlete, as long as he can play.

Oh I agree, if he out performs Quinn and JVD and Jones, put him in there! But if it's close, why burn the redshirt where a true freshman can use the time to acclimate, get stronger, and understand the Defense.

Edit: didn't see Schekler make the point I made.

I don't really know anything about breaking down tape, but it's hard to believe a kid with that kind of size and quickness would go virtually unnoticed. I'm glad to have him on the team, and apparently if all else fails he also can punt. (y)

Only been playing football for a year I think. His tape looks pretty solid. At 6'2" 240lbs, he looks like he runs pretty well. If he can figure out the mental side, dude has an extremely high ceiling.

This is a good point to argue with myself....if they can afford to RS a ILB, maybe Quinn Perry is the dude as he hasn't been playing football very long and the RS could allow for that mental acclimation.

Yeah, he has 3 to play 2, so they'll have to determine if he's worth keeping around the extra year, or if he can help right away and move him through in 2 years.

He's been playing football a long time. He just put Rugby aside last year. He was a national level Rugby player I believe.

edit:
Played 3 years of varsity football in HS (not a good program).
Was also on the U16, U17, U18, and U20 USA National Rugby Team.
I believe the story is that when he put Rugby away to focus on football last year, he also shed some fat and got himself in better shape.

247 mentioned that Quinn shifted his focus from Rugby to Football only recently and have him listed at almost 6'2 240.

Landman and Quinn should be a great ILB combo with a little VanBeast sprinkled in. I am excited.
Allen.

He shed fat and got into better shape after giving up rugby? Does not compute.

If you’ve never played; you learn real quick how to go lateral and how to tackle. Footwork, hip position, attacking at angles and getting side to side is huge in rugby. You won’t see any rugby player trying to launch unless they are ready to wrap up and make a good tackle.
But Nate Landman was ejected three times this year and he was a rugby player.
