***OFFICIAL 2019 CU FOOTBALL FALL CAMP THREAD***

Encouraging coach speak out of Tucker. Encouraged by the size of guys and him not being afraid to bring competition in and play young guys.

For those of you who attended practices last summer, is this teaching/coaching after every play any different than MM and staff?

Probably just recency bias for me, but I remember MM being more of just overarching head coach watching the coaches coach. Tucker seems to be more involved with individual players but as I said, probably just recency bias. Summers is definitely more active and vocal than Eliot was though, I’m positive about that.

Being that he is his position coach, I can see a bit more focus on him (teaching moments).
Last year, was Maddox the guy who played late in the year, was an aggressive playmaker who initially got us excited, but didn't seem to know what he was doing all the time and then did a couple boneheaded things for penalties that got the fan base pissed off at him?

I'm slow today. But if that was him, he was obviously a guy who could be damn good but was too reckless and was a liability in 2018.

His intensity was great - and much more managed today.

The questions had been specifically about the new guys. Mustafa Johnson said Lang is a completely different player this year who will be more than just a pass rusher.

Good info. Lang looks like a guy who could become a factor for us, a guy who can impact games.

Worth noting, we are early in the camp season. It's a plus to hear about players standing out but don't get overly excited, it's about who can consistently do the job, not who can flash on particular plays.

Also no reason to panic when you don't hear a lot about a guy, especially a veteran guy. Lots of reasons he doesn't get noted. Could be that the coaches know what they have and are working on developing depth behind him, could be that they have him doing things that are outside of his comfort zone trying to make him a more versatile player.

Also early in camp not unusual for a guy to have a pulled muscle or some other injury that is minor enough that it is not worth mentioning but enough that the coaches ease off a bit on him to let him heal up.

Remember as well that a lot of what coaches say can be aimed more at the individual player than it is at the fans.

We are fans, we want news, we want to know what is going on. We aren't going to really know though until they actually kick the ball off for the first game.

What is RG supposed to say about a rumored 8-9 figure donation? Of course he’s going to squash any and all discussion about it... until it’s a done deal.

Of course that’s the optimistic way of looking at it

Good point. I certainly hope that’s the case.

I’m also a little jaded from hearing about huge donations that never come to pass. Seems we have a new rumor every couple of years.
