Official Buffs vs. ****braska Game Thread

Time to see if all this talk Mel has done about accountability and playing the players that give you the best chance actually meant anything or if it was coachspeak BS

MT has a decision to make at half, keep Montez in and get shutout or play lytle and try to salvage this game
Well as a coach, you want to win games, sure. But you have to be the one with some longer term court vision too about what’s being built for the rest of the season, the following year....your legacy. Mediocre skittish 5th year senior ain’t part of that second part.

That's all you ever here about him until he takes the field and has to make QB decisions. "He has a pro-strength arm, he is big and athletic, he has smart football IQ" and then we get this...
He's been overrated since he got here. He's big. Not really that athletic. Good arm strength. Terrible football IQ. Soft as pudding.

So it's obvious it's 10-0 without the weird Arias blunder, albeit 17-0. Damn we should feel so lucky we are only down 17 with the way we've played. It's not over yet. If Montez isnt asked at halftime whether he's willing to take a hit to play, I'll be pissed. Get a QB in there willing to make sound decisions and take a hit if necessary. Someone rough him up, tough him up, **** him up if necessary in the locker room. Get him outside his head, cuz right now he resides only in his head.

It's gonna get larger, if Montez stays in. He has the physical ability, unfortunately, there is more to it than that.

I will say when you give up 96 and 95 yard drives in one half your chances of counting on the D to make stops in the second are probably pretty low.

Gary Barnett:
NUQB 9 for 9 for 182 yards. That means there is no pressure from our defense.
Montez has not had time to move past his first read due to pressure and contact.
WRs are not beating man to man down the field beyond 10 years.

Montez is the problem, o line has been ok.
I don't know which o lone you're watching.

The one I'm watching can't get 3rd and 2 or give Montez a clean pocket (not that he'd use it).

Constant pressure up the middle, and if not, we hold en route to the sack on the outside.

Can’t remember who it was last year saying Montez can’t throw over the middle of the field. He got killed for it on here but man he was right. Montez just can’t see the field.

At least Chev’s offense had predetermined reads got him easy completions. This offense requires him to make decisions and it ain’t good

True, but, if your offense gives you nothing, don't you think you should let another guy have a shot so your defense isn't out there all the damn time?
