USC hires Mike Bohn to replace Lynn Swann as AD

Correct. If SC becomes good again, they will be the story in LA sports, not the Rams or Chargers.
Ok. I can see that. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it’ll be a little harder for them to be good again when they have to fight two NFL franchises for butts in the seats. And by “good”, I’m talking about elite, top five, make it to the CFP level. It’s just one more obstacle for them to overcome when there wasn’t one there before.

Their draw when it comes to recruiting is not the number of butts in seats. It is the faces on the sideline. Those people aren't going anywhere.

A few thousand more or fewer butts in the seats isn't going to make or break USC, though. Hire the right coach and get back to top 5 status, and they will have no problem filling out all 90k seats every game. I see what you're saying that any obstacle is something for them to compete with, but I truly believe the Rams/Chargers will have almost zero impact on USC's chances to get back to that level, assuming they make the right hire.

They won't be fighting Chargers for butts in the seats.

If USC wins they'll fill the stadium up. Their success is not dictated by the number of butts in seats.

Socal sports fans are all about following a winner. I never knew how many LA Kings fans surrounded me until they showed up in the stanley cup finals.....

Meh, that’s every town.

When a “reformer” comes in to clean things up, the athletics suffer. We have our own history to prove that.

Short term, that’s very bad for USC and possibly very good for us. Long term, I suspect the big dollar boosters will run the new President out once it becomes obvious that athletics are not a priority. Depending on the level of damage done, it could take several years for them to fully recover. A program like that won’t stay down forever, but it looks pretty bleak now.
Athletics will remain a priority for USC. Folt knows and understands that. She is not, however, going to hire someone with his past in the midst of several ongoing scandals, particularly after her time at UNC. They’ll get a good coach, just not Meyer.

I don't pretend to know where Dodgers rank on the LA sports hierarchy, but I imagine it's top three with Lakers and SC

It's more like:

Depending on how good they are that year: Dodgers/Lakers/Rams/USC

Then whoever else is going for a championship: Angels/Clippers/Kings/Ducks with UCLA and the Chargers pulling up the rear. Given that UCLA has never really been big time since I've been alive, I don't know how they'd be supported. I've been at their games where the Rose Bowl is 1/5 filled and nobody is paying attention, but they've mostly been bad. The Chargers barely put butts in the seats of a tiny soccer stadium, and they were kinda good last year.

Somewhere in there and I don't know enough about is soccer. I'm not aware of people supporting the LA Galaxy team overly well, but when random "bigger" soccer games happen, people are all over it. Those national games, Mexico games, those things sell out the Rose Bowl, but it's soccer so I go out of my way to not care. And that may sell out everywhere, idk.

Dodgers are #1 and it's not close. Lakers are two, and the Raiders are probably third, then SC.

Totally disagree about the Dodgers but that’s splitting hairs, it doesn’t matter either way.

I’m sorry, the Las Vegas Raiders?? You mean the rams?

Run a quick overlap of years USC was good at football and years the Rams or Raiders were playing in Los Angeles. There are more than twice as many people in LA County alone than the entire state of Colorado.

You're the expert.

Whatever you say! Who knew an arbitrary list about a state that has nothing to do with Colorado athletics would turn into a dick measuring contest! You’re right, the Dodgers are head and shoulders above the Lakers in LA, does anyone even care about the Lakers anymore?? Pat yourself on the back for your win. Hopefully the Raiders don’t take too much attendance away from USC next season!

Classic.
