Karl Dorrell officially named Colorado HC

I’m sorry but a guy with moderate success as a head coach at a P5 school (5 consecutive bowl games) that has been coaching at the NFL isn’t on par with a coach from a service academy that has been running the triple option offense for the past 13 years.
They did not go to a bowl in his final season. He was 1-3 in bowls.

His recruiting was bad at UCLA: https://www.bruinsnation.com/ucla_r...ecruiting-history-of-ucla-football-since-2000

"Ironically, it takes us back to the beginning of the Dorrell era which has been viewed as having some of the worst recruiting in UCLA history. "
I don’t think that’s true. His last team (all his recruits) was expected to be his best. They were #11 early in the season and had a disappointing season. That’s why he was fired. And Guerrero thought that UCLA could compete with Carroll’s USC teams. Turned out Guerrero was wrong. Way wrong.

Yeah, based on that article it looks like he got better at it. And if he keeps Chev on staff (which he should) he’ll have a top 25 recruiter in house.

Plus, when you fail at something you usually learn from it, so hopefully he’s aware of what he needs to do better.

I think we should at least reserve judgment until we see his staff.

This definitely surprised me. But I can definitely follow the logic here. I think it’s a smart, well-thought-out hire considering everything that’s at play.
