Darrin Chiaverini relieved of his duties as Offensive Coordinator

He also allegedly forced Chev on staff. I agree he ain’t going anywhere, and frankly neither is Dorrell - there’s no way RG fires his own coach less than 2 years in. But a guy can dream.

Chev and Rod on the other hand, have to be fair game.
I just think about an interview I saw at some point last year where he and LC were talking about how they were sitting around after Tucker left and going through their list of names they supposedly keep, when they said KD’s name came into their heads and they questioned why they hadn’t been giving him greater consideration, as if he was some no brainer candidate.

Frustrating

He is looking like a no brainer.

I in no way endorse the coaching of KD, but you just can’t fire a guy with a winning record after 9 games. That would be a very bad look.

As for Chev and Coach Sled…
go away gtfo GIF
That’s Bull**** and I’m tired of people using it as a proof point. If 2020 was a normal year KD is sitting here at 6-9 at best.

Truth be told, I think the reason that Colorado had early season success last year is that the lockdown in Colorado was not nearly as severe as in most of the rest of the pac 12. I walk through cal's campus most weekdays and all in person gatherings were banned and cal players were doing socially distanced weightlifting outdoors on the lacrosse field most of last year. Hell, Stanford could not even practice or play on their home field for part of the year. There is a reason CU looked more sharp at the beginning of the abbreviated season.

Would Chev rather take a demotion back to WR coach/recruiting coordinator, rather than go somewhere else to do the same thing? Doubtful, but I think his options may be limited at this point, and he does provide good value for this program if he humbles himself and takes on his primary recruiting role again.

Serious question: What Power 5 coach in his right mind would hire him given a) how bad he is as a play caller and b) how bad his position group has looked this year?

We don’t even know if his position group has looked all that bad. We have hardly seen them. Our leading WR on the SEASON is Aris with 4 catches for 45 yards, and we all know why; QB play. We know how talented Stanley and Rice and LMC and Shenault are. They didn’t all just stop being good.

Point being, I think there are a lot of coaches who would hire him as a WR coach, with expectation of recruiting, and some might hire him as RC as well. He’s valuable as a recruiter when he wants to be.

Yeah they have been that bad-I can point to two plays from last week off the top of my head where basic situational football (stuff like not knowing the distance on a 3rd or 4th down) was missing from that group. One being the final 4th down and the other being a 3rd down in the 1st quarter.

It's his only redeeming quality. He's garbage at everything else, if he doesn't recruit then show him the door.

Please tell me, why are we holding a freshman qb, with 3 games under his belt behind a weak o line, to a higher standard than our coaching staff? Did we really go into this year thinking we would make a bowl game running nothing but 0-10 yard routes and stretch runs?

Never imagined CU would be this bad on offense and it’s time for Chev to go. I saw this as a possibility for Chev to have a short rope when KD hired DL to be QBs coach and DL has 12 years of OC experience. DL would take over as OC in this case.

Someone will hire Chev but given this massive turd laid today plus his self promotion for the HC position, it’s best for all parties for a separation.

Yep. I thought we would simplify the offense, hang our hat on the run game, use a lot of play action, build in some easy completions to settle him & grow confidence, and try to set up some deep throws to keep the D honest & maybe connect for an explosive play every so often.

But that would be stupid.

That sounds fantastic...we just spent the last two games doing 2/5 of that. We've thrown the ball deep twice, ran <5 play action in total, and setting up deep throws...lol we'll win a national championship before chev learns how to do that.

This season may be too far gone. Firing Chev is necessary to fix the offense going forward.
25% of the season gone. Offense has regressed from bad. Young QB's confidence shattered. OL lost and getting worse with every reshuffle. WRs & RBs so frustrated they're retweeting messages about transferring.

I'd fire Chev, Langsdorf and Rod immediately if I was KD. Promote the grad assistants/ QC guys and run the offense myself.

It's that bad of a situation.

#FireChev?

The guy I was responding to said QB play was why we're struggling and chev can get another job as a wr coach or recruiting coordinator because he can recruit when he wants. I responded saying he's holding a freshman qb to a higher standard than the coach who isn't even doing the one job he was mildly good at. What are you missing?
