Baylor lost, Notre Dame lost, and Kansas kept their game to only a 52 point loss so it wasn’t entirely a bad weekend. And we haven’t heard of any sex offense charges in the last couple weeks from the B1G or the B12 so they are on their best behavior.

This week sees a lot of P5 teams taking their bye weeks but we still have a very interesting slate of games to look at.

Thursday night gives us a chance to see two of the best G5 programs in the country. Unfortunately instead of playing each other they each play opponents not likely to put up much of a fight.

Houston (4-1) loaded with speed is at Tulane (1-4) who has put up a good fight in some games. Coastal Carolina (15) goes to Arkansas State (1-4) who’s defense hasn’t been putting up a good fight. Coastal has averaged scoring 48.2 per game while Arkansas State’s defense has given up 51.75 points per game in their last four, all losses.

Friday night we get the best PAC game of the week
Stanford (3-2) coming off likely removing any hope the PAC had for a playoff spot by beating Oregon goes to Arizona State (22.)

Also Friday we see if Cincinnati (5) has a let down after their biggest win ever with Temple (3-2) coming in.

A game that likely will have huge playoff implications has Pedo State (4) travelling to play an Iowa (3) team that somehow just keeps winning games. The Lyings about evil might wish they were flying one more state over for an easy win against Nebraska instead.

Speaking of Nebraska (3-3) they host Michigan (9) who has like much of the B1G made a habit of abusing the fuskers on the scoreboard. Oops, this is the B1G, normally abuse is used in a different context.

Virginia Tech (3-1) hosts Notre Dame (14) who has at times struggled this year and lost last week to Cincinnati. Can the Hokies take advantage and grab a win over the Irish

Jimbo can wave bye bye to the top 25 with Texas A&M (3-2) having lost two weeks in a row to Arkansas, then Mississippi State. That streak almost certainly continues as they get the pleasure of getting run over by Alabama (1).

Georgia (2) which has only managed to win their last two games by a combined score of 99-0 may have a bit more of a challenge this week at Auburn (18). Can they pull off three shutouts in a row?

In what each school will look at as substantially easier than last week’s games Arkansas (13) who got blown up by Georgia goes to Ol’ Miss (17) who were Alabama’s most recent victim.

One of college football's greatest rivalries plays out again in the Cotton Bowl between Texas (21) and Oklahoma (6). This is a game that the teams' records coming in don’t seem to matter and that often is decided on a big play or a great game from an unexpected player.

In the PAC 12 UCLA (3-2) who just fell out of the top 25 gets a free win at Arizona (0-4).

We also get the battle of the Northleast. The UConn (0-6) not so Huskies go to the UMass (0-5) last about a Minutemen. Between the two they may have enough talent to make a good FCS team.

San Jose State (2-2) should feel at home playing at CSU (1-3) this week. The Rams have frequently been mentioned as having Spartan crowds at their games.

Big game in the MWC as Wyoming (4-0) goes to Air Force (4-1). Wyoming has been less than impressive this year but is still undefeated. The winner becomes one game away from bowl eligibility.

Northern Colorado returned to their losing ways falling 40-7 last week to Montana State. They may have trouble keeping it that close this week with Eastern Washington (4-0) coming to Greeley

The local small college situation became clearer last week with Mines beating Western and Pueblo winning in overtime against Mesa.

This week Pueblo goes to Chadron State and Mines goes to Black Hills State

Mesa hosts Adams State and Western host New Mexico Highlands.

Would love to see VT beat ND. Can't imagine the reaction from the ND fan base including those apologist in the media.

When was the last time that ND lost two in a row (not counting a bowl game?)
Paging Gerry Faust, Mr. Faust, please pick up the white courtesy phone.

2016, three times w/in that season they lost back to back games, and lost the opener that year after losing the final game in 2015.

Rakestraw sighting. Safety for Tulane just got beat on coverage.

BTW I wanted Holgerson here. Dude can coach

:edit realize he plays safety

Notre Dame earned its reputation of being overrated for decades, but that program has overachieved 2017-present.

Notre Dame hasn't really been "winning" games this year, it's more like they've been surviving. Cincy could have easily won by 3 or 4 TD's last week. Their o-line is a mess and they don't know what the hell they're doing at QB.

I'll be very surprised if VT doesn't beat them

The Buffs still haven’t recovered from their scandal.

The Buffs "scandal", which turned out to be mostly non-existent was tiny compared to what multiple B1G schools and B12 schools have been proven to do.

If ASU can get through tonight and next week at Utah unscathed (not a slam dunk by any stretch), that team is in great shape for the second half of the season. The last five games are really not that difficult.

Good chance of this happening.

If it does it puts ASU in an interesting position with Herm.

Is firing a couple assistants and self-imposing some recruiting sanctions going to be enough for the blatant violations that happened during the Covid restrictions and if not how do they handle penalties coming off their most successful season in years?

I would actually be surprised if anything comes of those violations. Seems pretty quiet from all I am seeing and hearing + like you said, if they keep winning? That really seems to hide violations.

Awesome job Mtn, another great week of games with 4 ranked matchups including a top-5 game and the Red River Shootout, plus LSU-Kentucky, Bama-A&M, ND-VT, plus 5-0 Wake needs to be on alert at Syracuse. And hate to say it but Michigan-Nebraska could also be more interesting than we'd like.

Cincinnati is good!
Really creative play calling
Anyone at the Champion center watching that rollout throwback screen?
