USC is hiring Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma as its new HC

I think it was Klatt who pointed out the hypocrisy of gutting the B12 on the way out and now whining about Riley leaving them for the hotter chick. I have no real animosity for OU. But spare me the outrage.
It wouldn't break my heart if OU wandered in the desert again for a while like they did in the 90s. No real animosity, but I enjoy seeing any of the so-called blue-bloods down from time-to-time.

I probably have already mentioned it but in a previous job I worked with an All-American safety that played with the Boz. He just couldn’t reconcile the annual loss to CU that OU got to experience. No problem with losing to kNU, but CU really bothered him. And of course I was certainly going to remind him of it every time the opportunity presented itself. Great guy and a lot of fun when pushing the envelope of good corporate behavior

There is certainly plenty of history to suggest that he will epic fail as most big hires do. We'll see as Dan Hawkins would say.
The difference here is he's replacing Clay Helton, he will be a massive upgrade over Clay.

He could still however Not meet USC expectations in time. Their idea of a rebuilding year is 8 wins and that's allowed only once every 5 or so years. He'll be expected to win the South every single season unless something crazy happens at UCLA (like them becoming ing a consistent top-15 team). 10 wins and a Pac-12 South title is the USC expectation. Can he do that every year?

Riley may not meet the (unrealistic) expectations at USC but I’m at a loss to think of anyone they could have picked up who would look better on paper.

To support @ahoelsken ’s point, the person who should be concerned is Cristobal. The days of Oregon poaching the likes of Thibodeaux are probably numbered

Let me preface this by saying that I think Riley is a hell of a FB coach.

You pay a guy $15 million per year (if rumors are true), it is pretty clear to me that you expect to be winning NC's, and I don't think Riley's offense fully utilizes USC's built in advantage in the conference. They are the only team in the league that consistently has grown men on both Off, and Def fronts. Playing the spread/air raid doesn't utilize that advantage, and allows teams like Oregon and Utah to have a legit shot at beating them year in and year out.

OU dominated a down BigXII with two heisman quarterbacks. I think he will find it harder than everyone here thinks, to run the table in the PAC, and will probably end up with 1-2 losses every year, or just getting into the playoff only to be knocked out early. Basically, I foresee SC being the *new Oregon (under Kelly) in conference. While that is certainly nothing to scoff at by any means, that isn't what the expectations will be for a guy that you're paying $15 million per year.
His offensive system is definitely a much more physical system than most AR schemes. He’s had a ton of awesome backs and will continue to have backs get great gains on a YPC basis. The run game will be fine. Defensively I actually think they’ll improve because the P12 offenses are worse than the B12.

If that tweet is real? That is bull****... a ****ing football coach should never earn that... ridiculous.... people that save lives are not even close to that kind of pay... this country has its priorities all ****ed up...
A lot of people can be taught to save lives. Very few can get a college football program into the playoff. Supply and demand.

forget the sarcasm font?

LA vs Norman.... tough, tough decision
If money is the same, it's easy for some of us. My daughter lives in midtown LA and commutes 4 miles to work every day. Time? 35-45 minutes each way. I did my sentence out there and left as soon as I could.
