Kansas predictions

After watching the kansas-cu game last year i could not believe they ended the season with one loss, they are not near that good

Even tho they have a joke non-conf sched AGAIN i think they will lose atleast 4-5 games and fade back to mediocre

any thoughts?

Kansas is hard to predict. Schedule doesn't favor them this year. Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas, Missouri all at the end of of the season. That will be a tough one for them. I could see anywhere from 2 to 5 losses for them.

They are a good team, and they did beat a good Virginia Tech Team in a BCS bowl the Orange Bowl. They avoided both Texas and Oklahoma from the south last year and they get them both this year. So it will be interesting to see what happens there. I don't think they will win as many as last year, but I see them winning 7-9 games. I think it will be hard for the buffs to beat them in Lawrence.

Aug. 30 Florida International
Sept. 6 Louisiana Tech
Sept. 12 at USF
Sept. 20 Sam Houston State
Oct. 4 at Iowa State
Oct. 11 Colorado
Oct. 18 at Oklahoma
Oct. 25 Texas Tech
Nov. 1 Kansas State
Nov. 8 at Nebraska
Nov. 15 Texas
Nov. 29 Missouri (at Kansas City)

USF has a good QB in Grothe. This will be their first test. I'm thinking the game could go either way. KU is breaking in new OTs so their line isn't going to give Reesing the time or lanes he had last year. Reesing is a strong, athletic and evasive QB so I don't see him doing poorly, I just don't think he'll have the same stats he had last year.

They have OU the week after us so they may look past us. CU vs KU will depend on how well our line is doing at that point. We could get in a shootout with KU, but I think they'd win that war. The real shot, I'd believe, we have against them is to control the clock and the pace of the game with a very strong running game.

As much as our schedule is nasty, mostly nonconf, KU has a terrible lineup of Big 12 teams. They start off with ISU and us, then face the toughest teams in the conference and a NU team that wants blood after last year's beat down. I don't think they come out with a winning conf schedule.

i think south florida could def give them a wake up call, and with their south sched being UT, OU AND Tech i dont think they can beat any of them, and since they cant beat missouri thats 4 losses right there

I will admit that them beating VT surprised me, if we can beat them in lawrence they're in trouble

i understand your line of reasoning and i dont dissagree off hand. however, i will say that even during CU's best years, they almost always had a game where they struggeled against a lesser opponent every year. shoot, look at OU last year in boulder. dont tell me they not a very good team. it happens to USC, OSU, UF ect...

it happens even with the best of teams usually once a year. personally, i think KU has a fairly good team. thier inablility to beat Mizzou hurt them last year. thier big bowl win helped them coming into this year.

i agree that the jury is still out on KU being a very good/great team. this year will tell us all we need to know. we will see. right now, i would put them in the "very good team" catagory.

I see a little upheaval with the departure of their D coordinator going to Miami. I say they go 7-5

They'll fine a way to win one of these home games:
Colorado
Tech
Texas

Good... not great... certainly not top 15 quality... they were riding their reputation...

reg season 7 wins for KU. maybe 8 and the Alamo Bowl would be the ceiling IMO.

i think MU, OU, UT, Tech will slot higher in the bowl picture and maybe one other team....CU, ATM or OSU perhaps.

Florida International - WIN
Louisiana Tech - WIN
AT South Florida - KU likely favored
Sam Houston State - WIN
AT Iowa State - WIN
Colorado - KU favored
AT Oklahoma - loss
Texas Tech - Toss-up
Kansas State - WIN
AT Nebraska - Toss-up
Texas - Toss-up
Missouri - Toss-up

I don't see any 100% sure fire losses on the schedule other than Oklahoma.

The fat man must be doing something right. They won the Orange Bowl last year with a group of seriously inferior athletes. Yes, they had some talent Aquib, (or however it's spelled), and Reesing are good, but not world beaters. I wouldn't under-estimate them.

good point about Mark Magino. you may poke fun at his weight and such, in the end he is a coach no doubt about that. I shudder to think how good KU would be with him as the HC and the talent that OU and Texas has had the past 5-6 years.

I put him at #1, just ahead of Mike Stoops by this much ' ', as the top assistant lost to a head coaching job at another school who was an assistant under Bob Stoops at Oklahoma.
