CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

Maybe, like KU, go independent with a scaled down football budget.
C-USA could use some football only members.

Why would BYU leave the Big 12? The other three don't do anything.
Best case scenario is being part of a Big 12 move with some of these other teams. We recruit Texas, and we'd be back to playing there somewhat regularly.

Baylor is available.
The B1G makes much more sense for ND now that both USC and UCLA will be joining the conference. One of ND's reasons for staying independent was so they could keep their series with Stanford and USC therefore giving them a game in CA every year. Well, now the B1G suddenly has 2 teams in LA. There's also the $100 million annual payout that would get ND's attention.

BYU would reunite with Utah and would be the bad guys of the Pac. SDSU would at least maintain some sort of contact in SoCal recruiting...better than nothing. Boise State is already rivals with BYU and there is some bad blood between them and Utah & Oregon State so they could ignite something in the Pacific NW. CU needs a rival and if Nebraska is not going to be that rival, CSU is better than no rival.
Going back to the Big 12 without a rival is not the best case scenario. We might as well just stay in the Pac-12 after all and just get CSU into the door unless CSU goes with us to the Big 12. I'm not going to put up with another 12 years of this losing and lack of rivals in football and that will be the end of CU for me and undoubtedly quite a few CU fans too.
All will be moot if CU joins the B1G but I'm not as confident as I was back in 2010 about CU joining the Pac-10.

I’m sort of heart broken. I always believed that CU could return to National prominence. Now I realize that the gold in CU’s colors is fool’s gold. I’m 68 and am coming to grips with the fact that CU will never again be competitive in football.
But, at the same time, their are much more important things in life.

Feel like the CA legislature may try to intervene if they have any influence. Keeping the four big CA schools together has been a priority and I am sure the NorCal schools would be unhappy.

I agree. If cu handles this well and gets some luck, this could be a great opportunity for cu. Our previous situation clearly wasn’t working.

like i have said multiple times, we needed the oregon shoe to drop-- with them and uw pairing to apply to the big (which was nearly a slam dunk), we have to wait and see what happens next--- the big won't be in any particular hurry however after today. maybe they take those 2 and add 2 from among the other likely applicants from dead pac--- CU, utah, asu, ua, cal, stanford. we were never first ballot invitees.
from that 2nd group-- CU and either utah or an arizona school deliver footprint and time zone and such. i think cal and stanford are very likely out of the mix for a lot of reasons. i don't love our chances altogether, but there is a teensy small chance we don't end up the conference of irrelevant leftovers.
i do not even want to start getting my hopes up.

is it better to be competitive in a conference of irrelevant leftovers or getting stomped on by the likes of Ohio State, Michigan etc week after week
Conference of Champions!
that is the point. we won't get stomped forever. even at a reduced payout we will be able to hold the next mel tucker and build from there. and if you are a recruit-- you are better off at ANY super conference team than in the land of the leftovers.
