Why so many folks avoiding the EWU game?

First true home game of the season, it's going to be beautiful weather. We'll get another chance at seeing D-Scott and Speedy run the rock. A high-powered offense coming to town to test our young defensive backs. No television. Yet there's tickets remaining and people are dumping their tickets all over the place.

I'm confused.

Me, too. The two i have available are my mom and sister's tickets. They're not what you would call die-hard fans (they would have problems naming players without the last name of Hawkins).

I'm really excited for the first home game of the season, though!

IDK for sure but I'd guess it's just because not enough people realize that EWU could make it an interesting game. I think people are automatically relegating it to the status of the Miami (OH) game from last year... I think anyone that paid attention to their game against TTU knows it's not going to be the 42-0 shutout that the Miami game was...

Case in point, my girlfriend is from Seattle and she and I will be attending the game on Sat. However, when I told her we were playing EWU (thinking she'd be kind of excited that they're from her home state) she just laughed and laughed that we were gonna blow 'em out and it wouldn't even be that much of a game...

Just my thoughts I guess. People can generally find more rewarding things to do, in Boulder, when they think the game is gonna be a yawn. Personally I LOVE watching CU blow out another team no matter where they're from or what they're ranked... but I don't think everyone feels that way.

I don't know how many times out of town allbuffers have brought this up over the lifetime of Allbuffs, but I would gladly trade places with any of you within 100 miles of Folsom on Saturday. My ass would be sitting right next to Buffarino with the staring kid sipping Cap'n from a flask. Soaking up the sun/view and watching the buffs play. Who cares who they are playing. GO TO THE GAME. Come on lame assess - its only 4 hours max on a Saturday. Go ahead and mow the lawn instead. I'll be there in spirit.

Small point of order: We drink bourbon from a flask.

Carry on...

Last season me and a bunch of buddies flew in for the Miami of Ohio game simply because it was not going to be televised. But then we had reunion remorse when CU upset the Sooners at the homecoming game. So this season we are coming to UT on homecoming weekend.

I'm trying to get rid of my season tickets for this weekend, only because I have to put on a fireworks show that same night. Unfortunately, that doesn't work well when I'm a 7 hour drive from Boulder. :)

Because they're f***ing lame.

I know three people, personally, who aren't going this weekend. One is because of Army Reserve drill that weekend, and the other pair is because of other commitments whose scheduling is out of their control.

I am ****ing going to every ****ing home game this ****ing year. I had to leave my buffs for 2 ****ing years in ****ing california. No ****ing way am I missing a home game ever ****ing again. I dont care if I have to be some crazy ****ing old dude that makes my grandkids have to ****ing wheel me out there so I can watch D.Scott's grandkid score his 1st touchdown before I ****ing die.

rep coming your way.

It's weird, because after I wrote this, I got a call from my mom of all people, who said she was offered tickets to the game from a friend of ours. The seats are in the Flatirons club, so she's willing to go. Unfortunately, that also means Dad won't be at the tailgate, which sucks.

It just seems to me that a lot of folks chose this particular weekend to go off and do something else instead of going to the game.

Well I for sure can't think of 1 F'in thing I'd rather be doing this Saturday then get on campus in the most beautiful place in the world and cheer as loud as possible for my Buffs! Nothing better than this, and I know me and my fiance are stoked out of our mind for this first game!!! We'll be there at 11:30 to drink some beer, eat some burgers and fall in love again with the beauty of our campus after 8 LONG months of not having that luxury!!!

They've got interesting promotions going on for this game to try and fill the seats that's for sure. The 4 for $40 for one... plus my co-worker got a letter from CU ("signed" by Coach Hawk) saying they wanted her to go to the game and so if she'd mail in this little form they'd send her two tickets to the Byron R White Club Level for free!

She's never been too excited about CU football so she handed them off to me which of course is just awesome!!! =)

Anyone else get one of these mailings?? Just wondering if they were targeting a specific alumnus year or what?

:yeahthat:

Hey, I'm driving 8 hours to see the CU-FSU game and already planning on the 6+ hrs to the WVU game next year. I know those are good teams, but I would do the same if it was App St. I would love the 30 minute drive we had when I was a kid.

It just seems to me that a lot of folks chose this particular weekend to go off and do something else instead of going to the game.

Could that be because our opponent is a I-AA school (or whatever the **** that division's called now) and easily the least-attractive matchup of our home slate?

Exactly. I would rather pay to see one of these; UT, WVU, FSU, OU, MU, or NU. The rest of the schedule sucks monkey balls.

He was referring to the people who suck and aren't coming to the game, not the opponents. So it sounds like you'll attend exactly two home games this year.

Just bought a four pack. There will be 8 of us, possibly more this weekend.

cool, so you are a part time fan. thanks for sharing.

I would love to be there. My son has his first football game at 1:00. It is his first game in pads as he has played flag for the last 4 years. I am psyched to get to see him play split back this weekend. His team is running the wing t. Crazy O that should work pretty well as they are only 9.

[rest of thread]Since you won't be there, you're clearly a part-time and ****ty fan, Brad.[/rest of thread]
