CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

I don't believe the PAC is a sinking ship and it will remain a P3, but it's definitely going to the bottom of P3s and only being on AppleTV for a subscription will cause them to lose ASU and Arizona and it already costed them Colorado.

Hopefully they maintain Oregon and Washington but if the B1G grabs them, that's 5-7 teams to replace. Damn!

Ultimately, the Elite 2 is where everyone that was a P5 in the old system wants to be.
Except we aren’t in the Elite 2 and P3 era just yet. For the foreseeable future, the P3 Champs get autobids into the CFP. Once that goes away, things change dramatically. Big 12 is attractive right now (from football perspective) because if CU can recruit in the top 15 nationally, they’ll be in the CFP most years

Why the Fukk does anyone mention CSU as even a contender for moving up, they suck Ram balls and know it. No value whatsoever to the PAC12, and likely all Android users in Fort Collins don't ya know

Because options are limited and they are in proximity to the Denver media market.

dear b12: we aren't here for a long time, but we are here for a good time.

here come the assholes! soon, you will learn to hate us even more than we hate ourselves.

Baylor! We’re comin’ muthafuqers

You either get 10 years of national relevance and people actually being able to watch your product or 10 years of obscurity with no visibility and $12M less per year... It's a no brainier.
I was used to the obscurity. We moved in the shadows. We were the league of shadows.

Seriously I was hoping the major economic hubs of the west coast and mountain time zones could at the very least match what random ass towns in the midwest could come up with.

I have to laugh. How can the PAC12 expand to backfill the teams leaving when they don't have a media deal? If CU does leave, which seems to be a done deal, they will not be the only ones. CU leaving means a media deal is even less likely and this changes the dynamics with the P12 schools. I am sure both Oregon and Washington are looking at their limited options. I suspect we will see 3 other P12 schools quickly follow CU out the door and no UConn in the B12.

Nobody’s cares about this other than maybe Butthead on a good day, but if the rumors are true about the Big 12 (and they seem like more than rumors to me) then college football is dead as far as I’m concerned. I had a short rebirth after giving up last offseason, got sucked in by Prime, but it didn’t even last for a single game. Tickets will go to the highest bidder and some poor soul sitting on the season ticket wait list can take my spot next year. There is just no positive way to spin crawling back to the leftovers of a once decent conference that is now populated by rejects who have all been told they have no future in the power 2. Getting excited about playing Cinn, Central Florida, Houston, etc is the definition of failure.
The big 12 is a big downer for me. My engagement is gonna slip. Oh well. The P12 had its chance if this comes to pass 👎

I’d be satisfied with ASU, UA and UU, but the more that make the move with us, the better. The PAC can survive in a weird, watered down shell of its former self if nobody else goes and they cobble together three mediocre replacements. But if any one of UU,UA, UO, UW, or ASU goes with us, I think the entirety of the conference collapses. That doesn’t make me happy at all, by the way. I think it absolutely sucks that one of the greatest and most tradition rich college athletic conferences of all time just got shafted.
PAC didn't get shafted...well maybe the schools did but the leadership did this to themselves.

There's a difference between not caring about athletics and not caring about football (relatively speaking).
True. The P5 designation, however, is mostly relevant for football, though. They can care about non revenue sports just as much in the G5 ranks. Maybe they decide to go Ivy League.

I don’t know how the university sells a move the alumni base isn’t fully behind. Just flat out odd. There had to be a path to get $31M a year some other way.

I don’t think it’s a surprise how quickly Thamel & ESPN are reporting on this. Have to believe this move was orchestrated by ESPN and Fox behind the scenes.
B I N G O

Reading/hearing tonight that it was ESPN and FOX that told the Big12 to issue a deadline for CU's decision to move or stay. Sounds like Arizona is next on the clock.

What happened is my worst case scenario but it gets worse if somehow Oregon, Washington, Cal, Stanford and Utah end up in the ACC for the time being and get to play FSU and Miami and we’re stuck with UCF. If I’m Prime that’s who I want to play, not some Motel 6 diploma mill.
There’s nothing that’s going to happen with the ACC. They’d have to blow up their GOR (not happening) or P12 schools would have to agree to join it (also not happening)

Teaming up with a bball school in a conference of bball schools = disaster.

I think there’s a decent chance those program just say **** it and go G5. Neither care about athletics
This is absolutely false. Stanford has the best overall dedicated sports facilities in the country and the money to keep it so. They will go indie and be fine. Cal is ****ed by their system politics but they also are not ever going down a level. Never.
