They came in the mail today. Anyone planning on making the trip out to Lincoln to see our boys take on the Huskers? Hopefully we'll be 6-5 at that point and playing for a better bowl. I imagine we'll be 5-6 like last year.

Will be there in spirit... I can't bare going back there for a while... I still have nightmares

I've always wanted to see a game in Lincoln. Yeah, the stadium itself sucks and the town is a ****hole, but even the old players we have on this board said it was a special place to play; more so than @OU and @UT

It's not like it was back in the 90s with both teams being damn good, but I was there for 30-3 and I have to make it out for a Buff win in Lincoln someday. Too bad it's the day after Thanksgiving since I go back further south to have dinner with my dad (mom passed away so there is NO way I could not make it down and spend time with pops).

I've been to three games there. I don't feel the need to ever go back. It holds no special significance for me. Just another stadium in just another town.

UPDATE: Woot...just bought my flight and I'll be in the Champions Club with my Dad...I DO GET TO SEE A GAME THIS YEAR!!!

Woot!

I'll be enjoying the game with my wife, who is a Husker fan (dread), and her parents who are both Husker fans (dread, dread). I did buy tickets in the CU section though, so be nice. Her dad has gone with me to the last couple CU/NU games in Stinkin and we sat in the sea of red, so this will be a nice change of pace.

Memorial Stadium is neat, but the tunnel walk is cool to see in person. I personally hope to see a tunnel collapse during the walk, but that is neither here nor there.

Section 20; 2/3 the way up (bloody noses are probable).

:p No

It's the skybox/champs club.

My dad's girlfriend owns this big marketing firm and is good friends with a lot of alums.

I guess that's how she paid for her huge fake knockers heh

I have always thought the tunnel walk was stupid. It's cool to walk out through the fans but the iron doors with the silhouttes on them just seems lame to me. Can't really compare with Ralphie.

Wow. Gay. The doors were there for one year and they are gone now. We've been doing it since 94 and if you compare 80k + on their feet screaming with the 30k that you average then yes, it really can't compare.

Dude I have been to a half dozen games in Lincoln, the bolded above is a myth I have sat on both sidelines and in the endzone between the respective student/visitor sections. Lots of sitting, pretty much only sitting, even when a game went to OT.

Also we are averaging 54K this year douche.

news to me....It's always a packed house when I've been there.

I see the issue and edited my post, I meant to be commenting on the standing screaming and yelling part, you guys managed to "sell out" every game even under Cally so its obvious there is big time support and attendance.

Do I really need to hear about your possible future stepmom's silicone knockers?:wow:

Which is an amazing feat whenyou take into account all the wide load fans....

Just to clarify, those doors are still there, but they are now propped open because Pelini and Osborne pretty much hate that idea.

My $.05 worth,

As for the Stadium, it is very cramped..... I read somewhere this year if they were building by today's code they would lose like 15K worth of seats to have adequate space between fans. It is old, it is pretty much just a concrete structure, no brick, little in the way of beauty, but its home.... unfortunately it is on the national historic register so they really can't refurbish it, the new sky box on the west is actually a separate structure that does not touch the old original building, the end zones are not on the register so they can be remade if they choose to but they are still end zones, how much can you do with that?...... the new north end zone is very nice but it is still the north end zone, ya know?

Lincoln itself is not as bad as I use to think it was, I now travel Lincoln multiple days per week and I have gotten to know where to look (and you do have to look hard) to find good food, good bars, maybe even a little culture. Traveling across town is simply awful, there is no good way to cross town through its heart, Lincoln is a town you need to travel as a wheel with spokes, going around it and cutting in to where you want to go. Lincoln gets a bad rap as a farm town (and it kind of is) but if I am not mistaken it is either the biggest or second biggest B12 city. I refuse to defend Lincoln to any of you as I really don't have great liking of it myself, I have gotten use to it and have found some nice things there. If any of you traveling in for the game want a heads up on anything, pm me, I would be glad to help.

As far as the fans go, for the most part you will be treated well, most of the fans sit, and will ask you to do the same (unfortunately) because they are frankly... old. The students will be the most disrespectful of anybody in the house (good CU fans should be able to empathize with that). The stadium will go to sleep during tight games as we are use to dropping them the last couple years. it is actually louder for blow outs. Good quality opponents will get the crowd up, last years Texas game was very loud. Mid level opponents that keep it close (i.e. Baylor for example) the crowd was a non-factor and provided very little in terms of home field advantage. Are there A-holes? yep, I have worn visitor colors to Baseball and Basketball events (I am a CU fan, Creighton) and most of the razzing is honestly of a younger generation, I think that is probably true across the land, not just Lincoln. In this day and age of me me me in sports the fans are displaying the same behavior they see on the athletic field of play IMHO. Personally I enjoy mixing with the traveling fans, have had multiple great times with visitors. I think if you want to find a bad time you can absolutely find it in Lincoln or any city for that matter. A smile goes a long way when on the road.

Anyways, that is probably more than you wanted to hear but I felt like typing.

I was referring to the tunnel walk, not the entire game. 54K huh? How many do you think you'll average over the next home games after half your fan base gives up on you (again)?

we'll if we beat aTm and ISU we'll draw well for Okie light and end up around 52K for the year loss those two and it will be more like 50K

i live in omaha and would rather not go to lincoln for the game. i will watch it on HD at home.
