It's OU over UT

As long as Tech was a part of the discussion Texas was DOA

OU had the better schedule

that's where Mack knew he was finished in his TV interviews, he kept trying to throw Tech out of the argument. it's a terrible system we have....though, i suspect it will change.

Texas is a more complete team IMO, but OU has a better "A" game. though, stop OU's running and they can be beat.

I agree with it, mostly because as a fan of the Big 12, I think OU has a better chance of beating Bama or Florida than UT or TTech. JMO though.

Congrats to Sooner fans.

Had the Sooners merely snuck by Tech with a one score game, then Mack's arguement would be less valid. There would have been a 'legit' 3-way tie.

Why penalize the Sooners for winning big over Tech? To avoid controversy, would Stoops have been a better coach if he manufactured a closer game against the Red Raiders?

The UT arguement penalizes OU for playing TT tough.

So of the 5 tiebreakers used, none of them were based on who won head to head? That sounds stupid! I agree I prefer OU to any texass team but the method of getting there sure is stupid.

Furthers the argument for a playoff!

Either team on top of the other in the BCS would seem controversial because there are factors to elevate them both, not the least of which is Texas beating Oklahoma, but Oklahoma winning nearly every other game by larger margins than Texas won theirs.

(The old analogy).. If they were boxers and each game were a round in the match, then the Sooners got kocked down in round 6 but got up and scored more hard punches to win the decision, in my opinion.

Does Texass go to the national championship game if OU loses to Mizzou next weekend?

If you look at the expanded standings of the BCS poll, the computers have OU ranked #1, Texas #2 and 'Bama #3.... .980 to .940 to .920 respectively.

What hurt Texas the most is Mack Brown and the Texas athletic department was Mack's constant whining this past week about how the Texas/TTech game is a non factor, the athletic department printing up 30K signs saying 45-35 for the Texas/A&M game, other sponsers for a 45-35 website, the banner behind a plane yeasterday at gameday and such. If I was a voter that would signal to me that is the head coach and his staff, the schools athletic department and fans of the school really dont think their team is better... over use and abuse, plus implying I dont remember what happenned in October....

Boomer Sooner..... see ya in KC Saturday night, I'll buy the 1st round or two or three....

Also, is it a possibility that we see a rematch of UT / OU if Florida beats Bama and doesn't jump Texass in the BCS next week????

yes that is quit possible, and looking at the BCS standings, it is quite possible that Texas's margin the BCS is to great for Florida to overcome. The BCS computers have the Gators @ #6, Texas #2

I could easily see this being the most controversial/disastrous year of the BCS so far, depending on what happens over the next week or so.

The issue under the surface is that the B12S is too crowded for UT's liking. The less potent B12N champ gets a better deal than the Longhorns more often than not.

I actually think this year is pretty clear-cut. The winner of the SEC championship will play for the title, and they will play against OU if they win, and against UT if OU loses.

So I am all for the BCS looking like a complete crappy system. Should I be cheering for Missouri and Florida this week?

Any chance Boise/Utah can make it up to #2 with any of the games coming up?

Who do we cheer for that would make the BCS look the most stupid?

i think it did but it didnt solve the problem. texas beat ou, who beat tt, who beat texas, who beat ou, who beat tt, who.... see?

so, it comes down to bcs rankings.

if i were a voter i would put texas ahead of ou based on....
1. texas won head to head over okie at a neutral site.
2. texas losing close on the road at tt trumps okie blowing tt out at home.
3. tt with a blow out loss at okie and barely beating baylor at home deservedly puts them at third and out of the discussion.
4. head to head win trumps the losing team with a better schedule when comparing equal W/L records. hey, if that schedule you played was so much harder and you won, should you have not then beaten the best team you played? no? better luck next year.
5. okie did do better vs common opponents. but they lost when they played the team that matters. fantastic! still lost to the team that mattered.

now, i dont have a vote. i cant do anything about it. i like that an old big 8 school is getting props. im not mad at the outcome. its all fine by me. i hope okie makes us all proud vs the sec in the championship game. almost nothing would make me happier.

I find it hard to believe the South and East will allow two teams from the Big 12 to play for the national championship.

Texas got screwed badly. They beat OU, and both teams have the same record in the same conference and neither played a spectacular OOC schedule.

Tech also has only 1 loss and even though they looked less than impressive against OU, they beat Texas.

When you have 3 teams who are 7-1 in conference and 4-0 OOC and they not only play in the same conference but the same division and they are all 1-1 against eachother, it's really difficult to pick and choose one of them as deserving of the drivers seat and the other 2 SOL.

Also, 1 loss USC, despite my hatred for them, could be argued to be one of the 2 best teams in CFB. Obviously Florida and 'Bama both have a case.

I think we see Florida-OU in the NC game and USC and Texas are sitting on the outside looking in with very good arguments that they deserve to be there. I think Tech, also being 7-1 b12 and having beaten Texas, has an argument as well.

According to the computers there is a remote possibly that we see a B12 vs B12 or SEC vs SEC. Is that really appropriate?

Something needs to be done to institute a better way to resolve divisional ties in the B12 south than computer calculations matching up 3 teams with nearly identical resumes.

I would agree, but I also heard that going to the BCS rankings to decide the
South champion was the 5th tiebreaker. So it's not like it's the first or 2nd tiebreaker.
