J-Fly Bye Bye?

There's a music school at CU. You can't major in hip hop? Way to give the football program a bad rap.

J-Fly would just not look right in an ASU or SoCal uniform.

i just have to shake my head and wonder at this point.

Fallout from Kiesau?

That's the only program thing that makes sense to me but if that is the case what would he have against J-Fly?

At least his reason for leaving is academic pursuits...sort of.

No offense, but how many rap stars majored in rap in college???

This really hit me in the gut. He is stabbing a lot of people smack dab in the back. Plus, the last profession you need a college degree in to be successful is ****ing music. What a flakey nutcase.

scott i dont think is going anywhere in the article is said darrell tried to convince him to stay

It's legit, it is on Ringo put it on Buff Zone.

I for one am not too bent out of shape. All programs have kids transfer and flunk out. Welcome to big time programs. There are going to be departures as you build depth.
Losing Smith does hurt our already thin WR corp. However, I think J Fly had great speed but just didn't seem to get it as a wideout. Further, his mistakes on ST often overshadowed his big play ability. Even if the music career/major story is true, he would not see the field at USC and I doubt he would do much more at ASU

Wallace has not even played yet, so we can't really speculate about what we lost. We are good in terms of TE depth. If he was homesick, it happens, go home young man. Lots of time homesick = "I am not going to play here, I am going somewhere there is less competition."

Don't be such a dick.

We're paper thin at WR and any wideout would hurt. Especially if it's one of our top two proven ones.

Kids get homesick and Boulder isn't for everyone. No need to assume that the kid just bowed out because of some competition.

Leaving because one is homesick is more believable to me than leaving because you want to major in rap. WTF?!?!!!?

yup. its just one of those things. a kid has a passion and he feels he needs to follow the path that he thinks will lead to fulfilling that dream of his.

i was kinda pissed at first when i read about it. purely from a selfish standpoint. my desire to see what he could do for the CU football program.

well, that is not his first priority. nor should it be. if his passion is rap and its ahead of football and he feels he can not fulfill his life long dream with what CU has to offer, can i blame him?

i think not. while i am dissappionted as a CU football fan, as im sure all here are, i can not begrudge a kid for following his passion.

its amature athletics. we hope things turn out differently for our own selfish fan perspective but, it often does not.

i know the blame of hawkins will soon follow and the endless speculation will come in its wake of DS and what this means for the future and all of that. too bad.

seems a kid wants to follow his dream.

i say that im dissappointed and i would have liked to see what he could have done for CU over the next two years. but, i cant. i wish him the best of luck and no ill will.

he better wear a CU jersey in his first friggin rap vid though!!!! :pissed:

I don't think I was being a dick:

I agree with you. Boulder is not for everyone. I am not speculating on this situation, just making a more general statement.

I hope when he told the coaches that he wanted to major in rap, that they pulled his scholarship for being a dumbass. Get a business degree, graduate and then go be a rap star. At any rate, I am and sure, or at least hope there is more to the story than leaving so he can focus on studying rap.

As for Scott, I have no doubt he tried to get him to stay... I mean he was a reason why Scott came here and now that particular reason is leaving. I am hoping that Scott stays and lives up to the hype. If anything, this will mean DS will be seeing the ball even more now as we will be that much more of a running team.

I am thinking that someone will have to switch positions and start playing wideout ASAP. We are crazy thin there now.

Unbelievable.. We have a player leaving because he wants to pursue a rap career? I think I've heard it all now.. :sad2:

Let the speculation begin.

J-Fly made some selfish remarks following the A&M game, possibly showing some of his true colors. He's indicated a love of rap before, and beyond 87's allbuffs thread, hasn't had much furtile soil for that kind of expression in Boulder.

The only certainty at the WR coaching position is that Dan Hawkins and Ashley Ambrose will be calling the shots, while Kiesau moves over to OC and some unknown replacement is found.

There isn't a lot of patience me-first attitudes on Hawkin's team. It's bring your lunchbox and be blue collar, or go somewhere else.

J-Fly is making a big boy decission, pursuing his bliss.

I doubt this is about defecting to ASU to be a Devil or becoming a USC Trojan horse under some D1 recruiting ruse to get Darrell Scott to follow suit. I bet this is all about growing up, and choosing not to have two more years of ruptured livers or messed up shoulders.

If his mind has been made up, then best wishes to him in the next chapter of his life. It was fun watching J-Fly's electrifying contribution to the team while it lasted.

This completely blows.....I love Hawk, but he is doomed. Guess I will go to fricking UT or TCU games. No way that the Buffs are returning to dominance, or going to bowl games, or getting back to respectability.....

In all honesty I would have seen Simas, McKnight in the slot and Simmons (assuming he is in) as the top 3 recievers. It is possible that JFly saw that his life would be better in the hip hop industry than the football business with the new kids coming in. JFly was still not a proven WR compared to some other kids, he certainly had his fair share of big plays but how many times did I cringe when he fielded every single punt inside the 5? Or when he was wide open and had the ball drop off his hands.

I am not saying good ridence, more of good luck. But I am not deeply upset by this.

In all seriousness I really don't see his leaving being a problem beyond this year. He was an interesting talent but lets face it, he wasn't going to win us any games by himself. Probably would have made a pretty good impact this year since he would have most likely been THE guy, but again, I am sure his shoes can be filled and hopefully this gives Speedy and DS some reps at returning kicks.

True...just hope the perception of mass exodus does not screw us. Plati.....help us out on this?
