UCLA announced today that safety E.J. Woods is no longer part of the team.

Woods, a 19-year-old from Encino Crespi High, said in a telephone interview today that he will transfer to Santa Monica College, enrolling this afternoon, with intentions to be there through December before attempting to enroll in another four-year university in the Pac-10 to play football next season.

Woods said he will not try to rejoin the UCLA football team.

I know it says he wants to go to another Pac-10 school, but this kid was very high on CU during the recruiting process.

But this might cool other schools if they decide to go after EJ.

Currently, Woods is facing six charges of battery and sexual battery stemming from three incidents at off-campus apartments between October and January, said a spokesman in the the Los Angeles city attorney’s office. Woods' pre-trial hearing will be held on July 31, the spokesman added.

I simply don't see CU getting near a transfer who has been connected to sex crimes. And I guess I should be glad in retrospect that we lost out on Woods in the first place.

exactly...stay as far away from this guy as possible....if he is not worthy of Neuhisel, no way he should show up at CU..

If the Pac-10 schools all pass on him, I'd put money that he lands in Hawaii.

If he transfers to another Pac 10 school, doesn't he have to sit out 2 years?

We need to stay FAR FAR AWAY.

When I read the title of this thread I though it said "Elijah Wood is leaving UCLA". My first thought was, how is Skippy going to manage without Frodo...

Hard to disagree with that...ESPN's OTL show would have had another session on CU football for all the wrong reasons.
