Hawkins says this past year was the best recruiting class he's had. Rivals, and Scouts says otherwise. Who's more trustworthy? Is Hawkins hiding holes in the ship, or is he being serious?...The man seems very trustworthy, abeit very eccentric...I wish I could ask Chuck Norris this question...that guys knows everything.

Are you going to stop hinting around and tell us what your real agenda is with all these "questions" about our recruiting?

I think he's serious.

Don't listen, watch the games and decide for yourself. Hawk has been great off the field and has been good PR, just what cu needed after 2004-2005. The honeymoon is over, he has to have a winning season in 2009, the warm fuzzy speeches and comments are ringing hollow.

total agreement. it's time to buy the bike and ride it instead of talking about how good it looks in the store window. last year was a bit of a letdown but we're right where we'd need to be to put 8-9 W's on the board, contend for the division and get to building on it.

i thought this class would end up in the 20's or so nationally but lost out on a few guys late in the process but i thought it meets needs. and with Major getting hurt, Scott hobbled and not going for 1500 like we all hoped and Katoa gone some of the immediate lustre is off the previous class, possibly. though, i think DS has a very nice year and Major will make it back.

You don't need to make a thread for every thought that pops into your head.

I believe it.

Since he's been here this is the best:

QB class
WR class
DL class

And those are the hardest positions to recruit at CU.

In addition, we landed quality guys at OL, TE, LB, CB, S and K. I know it's way too early to judge, but I'm very excited about the '09 class.

I'm naturally curious. I don't mean to come across as pretentious. I would much rather ask questions and absorb information, than state my opinion which I acknowlege could be very much wrong. I'm sorry. Will try to keep the thread posts down.

I'm just curious too:

what does the thread title "Buff Infidelity" have to do with anything in your OP?

i thought the OP was a reasonable and interesting question. if Hawk said it, maybe he's trying to light a fire under the 07-08 class. or: he's got to keep up appearances that everything is always moving forward (this is the best week of practice we've had since i've been here ad infinitum)....or, maybe he believes it and while counter-the-rankings it's worth entertaining as a possibility, IMO.

He has to have a winning season in 2009 to satisfy you, maybe.

Go post some pics of 17 year old recruits you ***ker fan :smile2:

So, if CU has another losing season in 2009, you'll be satisfied along with every other buff fan?

I'd be willing to bet most think he needs to have a winning season this year...

i put my happiness, "yeah, OK"....not another brutal off-season of "what if's and wtf" over/under at 7 wins. 7 i'm on the fence, 6 i'm digging trenches again, 8 i'm OK.

I want 8 wins (either with a bowl win or without). Anything less and I will be disappointed.

I was rather surprised seeing that typed by the Col. as well.:wow:

Here's where I'm at for 2009 win totals:

9+ = ecstatic
8 = pleased & looking forward to 2010
7 = disappointed & looking forward to 2010
6 = very disappointed, better win the bowl game and close recruiting strong or Hawk loses my support completely
5- = time to get a new coach

For the record, I think it's going to be 9, a close rematch loss to Texas in the B12C, and a bowl win to finish 10-4.

One of these days old man. One of these days.

41 is old? I'm in better shape than you, you spend all day putting up recruiting articles, i'm doing the 300 workout, THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!

I want 8 wins or more also but, I've been harping on just a winning season. If they go 7-6, it would be kind of hypocritical of me to bitch about it.

I'll define success through the end of Hawk's current contract with the following: Getting 3-5 of the state's top 10 HS players to sign every February. Winning every game where CU comes in as the favorite. Establishing a clear home field advantage at Folsom, both in person and on paper. Averaging a minimum of 8 wins from 2009 through 2012 (though I'm betting he'll get another extension from the AD at the end of the year if he gets 8 and a bowl win). And, most important here: Finishing first or second every year in the North. Looking at the roster and the fight the team showed last year, these are now not only good goals, they are very attainable ones.

I write recruiting articles? Where?

BTW, Putting up a profile takes no more than 5 minutes. About the same time you spend working out.

All the makings for you to be a very special (old) internet tough guy :smile2:

:yeahthat:

Does Hawk "need" a winning season to keep his job? I kind of doubt it.

But is anybody going to be very happy if this team doesn't have a winning season? No way in hell....
