Didn't see this one coming. Hope it works out, as I think a lot of us thought his knees might benefit from the break during his mission....

MTM not going on his mission?

newsroom has the story but more people look here

first off im stunned!!! second im excited!!! and third im confused?

Wow. OK. Well, go get em, Max. It'll be good to have a few more options on the OL, that's for sure.

I don't think he starts, but he can provide valuable depth along the line.

I saw it in the newsroom, but I always wonder if a lot of people miss the threads that get going in there. So I posted it here.

And :yeahthat: :dito: :stupid: This is one of the most unexpected stories I've seen when it comes to the Buffs in a long time. And this program is always good for the ****ing unexpected.... :wow:

MTM won't start early. Heck, he won't even be in the conversation for game reps until Texas week (best case scenario). But there's a real good chance that he could be starting by the end of the season. And the idea of Solder-MTM-Iltis-Miller-Givens across the front to try to control the Okie Lite game and handle Suh against the corn gives me a lot more hope that we can finish this season extremely strong. Great for depth, too.

man, the 10 and no thing seems to be having it's intended effect at least on MTM. Also, I have been hearing a lot in articles and video interviews about the comaraderie (misspelled and I don't want to hear it) developing on this team and this story seems to back it up. MTM didn't want to loose contact with these guys. he wants to be a part of 10 and no...loving the vibe right now. Big things happen when people are working tightly together.

This is setting up to be a shocker season for a lot of people.

I don't think he starts right away, but as the article said, he's shooting to be ready by the beginning of the conference schedule. He'll be pushing for playing time pretty soon. I just pray his knees hold up. I'm sure they have some serious knee braces made just for him.

So is he planning on going on his mission after the season?

Whatever. He should use his RS this year then because I don't think his knees will be ready.

Tuioti-Mariner is delaying his mission indefinitely, staying at CU this season and hoping an accelerated rehabilitation regimen will have him ready to play by the Buffaloes' Big 12 Conference opener (Oct. 10 at Texas).

Based on that quote from the article, it sounds unsettled when he'll actually go. But he did also say that part of the reason he didn't want to go now was that he would lose touch with some teammates over the 2 years he'd be gone. That situation won't change, particularly until he graduates.

This is a sign of how tightly knit this team is, how focused they are, and how much they are buying into the 10 win GOAL (not promise). If we dont get hit by the injury bug this year, it's gonna be a special season, I promise you that!

Oh great, another promise from 'leash.

Love his enthusiasm and drive to get back onto the field. Even if he redshirts, I would have to imagine that this is big for the team's morale.

Stoked to hear he has been cleared for all olympic lifts.

I hope he can healthy enough to use that natural talent, but I agree w/ most, perhaps it would be best to give his knees a year to heal BUT I guess the atmosphere around the program is one that he feels he doesnt want to miss. So that's good news too, the attitude among the players i.e.

Dear Saint Rocco, patron saint of knee problems, dog lovers, the falsely accused, plague and venerial disease.

This time I'm asking for your grace and mercy. There's a very special player in Boulder who can use your help. Please grant MTM a pair of surgically reconstructed knees that remain healthy and strong for now and forever.

Oh, thanks for penicillin, for helping out Richard Jewell, and for Fido's amazing bladder control. Amen.

I do like the increased depth. A lot of caution is all I want.

I'm sure that the plan is to do everything possible to be right for this year but redshirt if he can't get it right. I'd love to have him in there, though. I look at Behrens, Adkins, Bahr and Daniels as good players that you can definitely win with... but MTM has legitimate dominator potential.

MTM attempting to come back reinforces me thinking that this team could turn out to be a special team.

I liked the fact that the Mission would've let MTM get healed up. But with the lack of depth with interior OL, I'm glad to see him stay.

:yeahthat:

Not only would the extra year of healing be a nice cautionary measure, but then we'd get the benefit of him for a whole season instead of just 2/3 of the season, at most.
