if they lose to toledo, they may not last the season.

i like hawk, but this **** cannot stand.

win or get out.

yep. lose that one and they should fire this staff in the lockeroom in toledo.

there is no more margin for error. we deserve better than this.

I don't think any firing will occur before the end of the season.

But, I do think the Buffs will fall at Toledo.

i agree that it is unlikely that they will whack them right after a loss to toledo (if that happens). but, that doesn't mean it shouldn't happen.

i've seen enough. unless they've got a hella run in them the rest of the way this year, these guys are done.

I see where Toledo scored 31 points on the road against Purdue....

They also got RUN OVER by Purdue's running game. Their starting RB went over 200 yards. Mostly on runs up the middle.

It would be lovely to think we might at least give that strategy a chance....

I think we beat Toledo.. Nothing to base it on other than gut feeling..

I do see that they have 5 returning OL along with their QB and a few RB's..

I wish I had your gut.

Unfortunately - I see:

1) A Colorado offense that hasn't scored points in the past three years.
2) A Colorado defensive line that can't put any pressure on a QB.
3) A Toledo team that throws the ball all over the place (400+ yards on Purdue)
4) A very short week for Colorado. (Team has to fly out on Thursday - thus they really only get two days for practice this week.)
5) A Toledo team that did a pretty good job of controlling the clock against Purdue.

I don't see the Buffs scoring more than 21 points, even against Toledo. Defense will have to show up against the Rockets.

Well, we know that's not happening. Gotta give Cody his chance to impress the NFL scouts because maybe Daddy can score his son a sweet pro-football job someday.

I don't know if I buy that.. I'm not happy with Hawk but I have to believe that if Hansen was considerably better than Little Hawk, Hansen would play..

Hansen was good in one game last year, vs KjSU and struggled vs Missouri and aggy.. Let's all not act like he's was Peyton Manning when he played last year because he wasn't..

Toledo now scares the hell out of me. Based on what I saw tonight, their QB is going to have all day to throw and a nice pocket to step into. They'll face a CU offense that can't move the ball consistently. I'm just hoping we can keep it close.

I assume you are right handed? If you got in a fight and your right hand was broken, would you start punching back with your left hand and give that a try a few times?

No one said Hansen was Peyton Manning, but when your first choice isn't working, it is time to try out plan B. After all, with all the talk about who the starter was going to be, Hansen had to at least be a prepared to play.

Don't forget our Dbacks seemed to be about two steps behind any WR running a go route.

What happens if Hansen is worse than Cody?

I think its a strong sign that if Hansen couldn't beat out Cody, then he isn't good enough yet. And Little Hawk had very little to do with why lost tonight. He wasn't great but he didn't get a lot of help from his OL or receivers..

Could it be the opposite and what we saw is the team quitting on Hawkins? :shudder:

Well then we are in the same situation right? But the question you should be asking is, "what happens if Hansen is able to do something productive?".

As much as we got dominated, there were a few plays there that if they went our way, we could have won this thing. Trade out one or two of those 3 and outs and pretend we had a QB that scrambled for a first and got a TD and this thing goes the other way.

The thing is that you can't be sure the competition was actually objective, since the guy making the call was his daddy.

And "Little Hawk" was not a good QB, he had sloppy mechanics, his balls weren't on time, they were frequently behind his receivers or too high (hanging guys out to dry) and he panicked and got rid of the ball too quickly on 3rd downs because he was afraid to get him.

"Little Hawk" isn't a good QB, and I sincerely doubt he would be starting at any other BCS school which his father wasn't coaching. If he truly is the best CU has at QB (and not the beneficiary of nepotism) then Hawkins has failed miserably at recruiting QB's.

And this might seem too obvious but if your o-line is getting beat, isn't it a good idea to have a QB who can actually run take the snaps? Since, you know, that QB could make something out of nothing, and once he'd burned the D, they'd have to commit someone to spying the QB which would eliminate some of the pressure.

We saw Hansen last year.. He was good vs KjSU, pretty bad against Missouri and was replaced in the game against aggy last year. Not exactly stellar and certainly not as good as the last true freshman QB that played at CU (Ochs).

You guys might be right, but from what I've seen I don't know that Hansen would make that much of a difference on this team. This teams scheme, talent at OL and WR are much more glaring than their QB play.. Tough to complete passes when DL and LB's are running free into the backfield.

Are we playing CSU or the NE Patrots?

If we get this far something is already wrong.

Even with staff adjustments or a midseason HC firing, we're still looking at a lame duck staff the rest of the season should the Buffs go 1-3 or worse in OOC. I don't need to jump into more detailed scenarios for everyone to know what that would do to our recruiting, not to mention a few more transfers of the current roster we may see. Everyone talked in 2007 about turning the corner, that 2008 would end with a winning record and by 2009 we'd be in contention for a conference championship and/or a top-tier bowl game. Then after last year's derailing in October, we said we'd push those expectations back a year. By Halloween we'll know whether we can take pushing them back one more year or accept setting the clock back four more years and rebuild again. I'm taking the X-Files approach to whether we've turned the corner this season. "I want to believe." Five days is a hell of a timetable for road game prep after that debacle. Please, Buffs, show me a reason to believe.

One thing that will make a difference, is not commiting personal foul penilties after you have stopped a team on 3rd down, only to give them new life again. That shows a lack of disipline.

i'm pretty sure we are going to lose to toledo. if it was at home, we'd have about a 10% chance of winning but it's on the road
