Back on the Hawkins bandwagon

What If...

Would you be back on board if he wins the rest of the games minus Texas, Oklahoma State and say a third loss between Nebraska or Missouri and we go on to a bowl game.

Was yesterdays inept performance the last straw no matter what? What would it take to get you back on board?

No, I don't think yesterday was the last straw, but it's just that we don't look like we're improving and thats the most frustrating part, especially with the talent we supposedly have.

As much as I want to see wins... I want to see an identity more... a confident swagger... aggressiveness on offense and defense... wins will come. Right now we are mush.

I watched the CU-ND game a couple of weeks ago. You could see the swagger in the team. It was a team of winners. Do you remember those days?

Even if Hawk leads the team to 8+ a bowl, I he has not earned my full support until the team develops that identity and swagger.

I think it really depends on how those games are won. If it's due to our players overcoming poor coaching and play calling then I don't think you can jump back on the bandwagon.

Last night wasn't the last straw.. I am not at the Okruch he must go level yet with Hawk.. But I wasn't exactly excited about the program's progress even before the CSU game.. I'm willingly to see how the season turns out before I deem it the last straw. But it isn't looking great right now.

He deserves all the criticism he is getting though.. And his coaching staff sucks along with his coaching decisions at times blows.

The CSU loss is definitely a turning point though.. I would say its the first time that the majority of fans, alums and ex-players are against Hawk..

A decisive win at WVU can win me back at least temporarily until we get blown out in Texas.

He needs to win decisively against Toledo, pound Wyoming, and then hang tough with WVU. Anything short of that....

It doesn't matter. I'm completely done with Coach Hawk. If this team would win its next 11, follow it up with a B12 Championship, and then won its bowl game... I would say that the players and certain assistants somehow overcame the huge deficiencies of Hawkins and his Boise brethren on staff.

a 2001 like season w/ a thumping of the nubs and a win in Dallas. Otherwise he needs to get fired. I'll be happy if he somehow wins 8 games with a bowl game.

I'm not worried about that scenario though, because the realistic one is we only win 4 more games tops from what I saw yesterday. He is totally inept, and needs to go.

I have predicted a win over Wyoming and A&M, for a 2-10 season. I hope I am wrong.

Improvement from season to season and week to week. Is that too much to ask ?

If I thought that was even remotely possible, I wouldn't be off the Hawkins bandwagon...

I support Hawkins like I support our president. The difference being that I was in favor of Hawk's regime when his term began. He's the guy in charge for now, but similarly if I continue to be dissatisfied with his policies and results I would like to see him gone at the end of the season. I don't think I'd consider myself to be on the bandwagon, but I'm not going to demand his firing right now. And if we make 7 wins this season, I will consider it progress as it guarantees even with a bowl loss this CU team won't be marked with a losing record.

If that goes down I would totally support Hawk. I still really like him, I'm just not convinced anymore that he can lead us to the promised land. If he wins out from here on out and doesn't lose 70-3 vs Texas, I wouldn't want him fired that's for sure. I really hope that is how this season ends up too. Just can't see it happening.

I think Hawk would kill to have the President's approval rating at this point, even if you buy into the 42% number I saw quoted the other day....

The problem isn't the loss as much as it is the same mistakes being repeated over and over and over. If we turn it around, go Buffs, but it seems so unlikely with Hawk at the helm.

As I have stated in another thread, I am off the Hawk bandwagon. He can still regain my respect through the remainder of the season.

I am not in the camp that says fire him now. I don't think a mid-season (not even mid) is anyone's best interests. That seat is smoking hot right now though.

As I think about why I am so pissed today, it really comes down to what Hawk said in the offseason. I was completely expecting to see a prepared, fired up team and a good gameplan last night. The fact that CSU went up 20-0 on our field is completely unacceptable to me given the expectations that Hawk himself had set.

The season can still be salvaged. Unfortunately, CU fans are accustomed to losing the opener. Hawk just needs to prove it. I don't want to hear another word out of his mouth. He needs to show it on the field.

8-4 is a ****ing pipe dream. if they pull it off, he saves his job.

off the bandwagon?

i am a Buff. through and through. i donate. i buy tix i can't evne use. i support the program and the school, emotionally and financially. hawkins is not bigger than the program. he's just a coach. i'll be here after his ass is long gone, either in inglourious defeat or on to greener pastures.

remember something slade said years ago and it resonates (keep in mind i don't often agree with the dude): it took ou 3 or 4 tries to land on stoops. it took usc 3-4 tries to land on carrol and they have literally everything we don't have. if we gotta ****can this guy and move on, then do it.

:stupid:

That's the thing though, sure we would love to have Hawk circle the wagons and turn this into a good season in the end. The problem is though, winning or losing one or two games isnt the problem, it's the overall body of work. When the ****ty performances against Montana St, Washington St, Mizzou, CSU, and more, far outweigh the OU win, you gotta make a decision at some point.

Has Hawk proven that he deserves a shot to continue leading our players? Not at all!

Show me one sign that points to things turning around here in this season or next. Just ONE!

I don't know, I just don't know. I still feel embarrased to be a buff fan. Usually I am over it and ready to see the buffs take on the next game. I don't have that feeling. I feel embarrased driving around with ralphie on my truck.

My lifetime friends are hard core C.U fans and they hate Hawkins because he will not run the ball. I am sick of watching games and sticking up for Hawkins trying to pass the ball to guys that cant get open. I am walking behind the wagon with my head down.

All I have to say is thank god we have the fuskers at the end of the season. Show me a drastic improvement starting Friday night and beat the fuskers, I'm in. Lose to the fuskers and CSU in the same season and continue the spotty play...see ya.

I know what you mean...before the game the fam and I (wife and 5 yo daughter) were planning to go to chik-fil-a on Monday to get our free chicken sandwich (I love those f'n things). After the game I decided that I would not put my family through that kind of ridicule and embarassment.

I feel ya Leash. Immediately after the game I removed my CU shirt, and hat. I don't think I've ever done that before. I'm sure me being over confident pre-game had something to do with that. After the game we went back to our camp site and I turned in right away. I was too embarrased to sit around the campfire with the fam. (mix of CU & CSU fans)

Ding ding ding, winner.

I still think Hawkins keeps his job next year unless the meltdown is complete, like another 2-10. This is the same coach that beat Oklahoma a couple of years ago for a "signature" win, which makes Sunday all the more hard to figure. I didn't understand much about the game plan and personnel choices Sunday night, but that is one game. There is talk about Scott getting more carries, so we'll have to see what's in store for the rest of the year.

Even if the fates conspire to bring 8 wins this season, I will be disappointed in a blow-out loss to UT, following last season's blow out loss to Missouri.

I expect CU to never give in.

I expect CU to play 60 minutes of football and consistently challenge every team in the conference at any place, any time of day.

It's one thing if CU proves they belong in the B12 by playing UT and OSU close. It's an other if the team is just showing up to be tossed around like a chew toy by the conference elite.
