What is the Hawk buyout $?

I've heard someone say that the buy-out is $500k. Can anyone confirm? My fear is that the number is much higher, thereby meaning we're stuck with Hawk for financial reasons ony.

I'd be shocked if it were really $3MM. That's a very high number, and considering what Bohn had to do to get rid of Barnett, I'd be surprised if he were to put himself into the same situation again.

Best guess is that it's somewhere in the $1MM-$1.5MM range. That's a total guess on my part. I have no information.

and the follow up is who the **** can we afford that would come here right now?

We need to be realistic - we can't afford ANYONE if Hawk's buyout is really approaching $3 million. Hell, given the state of athletic department finances right now, we can't afford ANYONE if Hawk's buyout is close to $1.5 million.

This is from an article about his original contract:

There is also a buyout provision for the University in the amount of $1 million for departure anytime before the end of the second year of the contract, decreasing to $750,000 during the third year and to $500,000 during the fourth or fifth year.

This is from an article about his original contract:

I had heard that when Bohn extended Hawkins' contract, the buyout may have been modified or started up high again. I can't confirm this, but have heard the $500k number may not be reflective of his new contract...

why was Sanchez on our sideline?

Courtesy of Absinthe on another post, it's $1 million.

verify it here:http://www.rockymountainnews.com/new...act-extension/

The contract also includes a buyout clause that would cost Hawkins $1 million "if terminated between July 1, 2008, and the day after the final game of the 2009 football season, including any bowl game . . . "
Hawkins' buyout would be reduced to $500,000 if he wants to leave after the 2009 season through Aug. 30, 2012.

It sounds to me like this is what Hawk would have to pay if he wants to terminate the contract early. What the Univ would have to pay him still seems to be a mystery....

The top line is a quote from the contract language the second line are the writers (BG Brooks) words. But as you'll see from the other thread it is not really clear, I could find the original contract but not the extension on line.

You are exactly right. Hawkins guaranteed salary is right at $1 million per year and that probably goes up...so 2010, 2011, and 2012 will put him at $3 million plus. I have no idea how they handle the incentive pay.
