Hasting said "Hawkins is an a-hole father and a-hole coach"

there's no reason to say such crap about Hawks fatherhood.
He's taken it way to far.

I already called and complained.

I heard it to. Al just said WOW,and left it at that. Hastings went too far, but it's hard for me to stick up for Hawk right now regardless. I've heard a lot worse said about him in the last two days since the game.

And I agree with Al. If I was Darrell Scott and was only getting 1 carry a game, I'd be leaving.

He got the a-hole coach part right. He's wrong about the father thing though, he's gotta be the nicest father around to be naming junior starter for the whole season after Sunday.

Hastings clearly has never heard Cody interviewed. His coaching may be in question, but he raised a first-class kid.

I'm not cool with the father part at all (Cody does seem like a really good kid), but I like that Scooter is supporting the Buffs - we need mainstream media guys to echo what we in-the-know fans are saying: that Hack is a $hit coach and really needs to be replaced.

I find Hastings annoying and pretty much a lowest common denominator type guy. his "take" on sports is roughly equivalent to fart jokes and an occasional seemingly well-informed spot of NBA analysis (during Nuggets telecasts) about dirty play.

i quit sports radio several years ago. don't miss it.

Hawkins might be struggling as coach, but both he and Cody are stand up people. Anyone of use would be lucky to call them friend. Comments like this remind me why I hated most of the local sports fans in that town. I have never seen a city so prone to overreaction, one way or the other, in my life. Well at least until I moved to my current locaton.

If you are calling for Hawkins to be fired after 1 game into the season I seriously doubt you know much about little.

Totally agree. I think his basic complaint was he set his kid up to get booed on Sunday. His words not mine.

Hawkins was on the show last week and pissed Hastings off pretty good. Hastings started off the show today by saying, 'Don't piss off a guy with thousands of watts and the internet behind him.' Wasn't too hard to figure out Hastings was gonna go schizo on Hawk today. And he's not even a big CU fan. Al is holding back big time. He's stopped himself a few times from getting to negative.

The coaching and play on the field are fair game for attack but getting personal is pathetic.

This isn't after 1 game. This is 4 seasons of medirocity. I hate to derail 4-5 years of what we've been building here and start over, but have you seen anything in the last 2 seasons that leads you to belive that Hawk is the answer at HC?

If you say yes, then I doubt you know much about little my good man.

Dan Hawkins is the kind of man I'd want as a neighbor. He has done a lot right in his personal life. He and Misti and their kids are wonderful people.

These people need to sepparate Hawkin's personal and family live with his success on the field.

What's next, death threats? Give me a break.

thanks for the heads up. made a call myself. SH can comment anyway he likes on the coaching, but personal attacks are outrages.

Hastings started off the show today by saying, 'Don't piss off a guy with thousands of watts and the internet behind him.'

this is why the Denver sports media is so bad. these guys actually think they are opinion leaders. that they create a following of people who assimilate their "opinions". look to Hastings or Mike Evans as someone to defer to when it comes to sports knowledge.

Cody Hawkins is a first class kid. On Friday night, we went to the Pearl Street Stampede and my 4 year old son looked at Cody in awe. Cody kneeled down, introduced himself and signed his shirt. My son smiled like I haven't seen him smile in a long time.

I'm a fan of Cody Hawkins the person, and Dan Hawkins should be proud of the job he did as a father.

I may not think Dan is a good coach, but FU*K Scott Hastings if he thinks he isn't a good parent.

I agree Mick, but except for the personal attack on Hawkins I couldn't agree more with what's being said today. I've been going to games for 20 years, and have never left Folsom at pissed as I was Sunday. Hawk earned the criticism he's getting right now.

4 seasons huh. I thought he has been here for 3 and has now played 1 game in season 4? He has been building this for 3.1 season, not 4-5 years.

Recruiting Darrel Scott- yep VERY VERY BAD.
Recruiting Ryan Miller - again what bad move
Bowl game in year 2 - what was he thinking.
Beating two top ranked teams at home - Yep that sucked.
Taking Georgia to the final bell on the road - dumb ass coach right there.

Get real and open you eyes. This is not the train wreck you want to believe it is. There have been some really bad loses along the way as well. Some that have pissed me off just as much as the next guy. But the overreaction is comical.

I love Monday morning coaches and QB's. They never cease to amaze me.

It must have worked he just "apologized" not a great one but he did apologize

no doubt about it. it's the personal attack i find both unnecessary and somewhat typical.

even internet scum boards like this one have rules against personal attacks and terms of service.

Keep fighting this one man fight all over the board. Its good reading. :wow:

Hey guys/gals... continue calling. I want Scot off the air. He's the class clown who always thinks he's so funny when he never is.

I'm in the 'Fire Hawk' Club if CU can't get at least seven wins but mentioning Hawks' 'fatherhood' is bull crap bush league coward radio.

call 303-321-0950 ask for Tim Spense

or

call 303-228-1043 and call out Scott on the radio

Darrel Scott - 1 carry 1 catch
Ryan Miller - 29 yards rushing
Bowl game - still a losing season
beating 2 top teams at home - your suppose to win at home.
Losing to Georgia

How about losing to Montana State? or the worst Texas A&M team in the last 20 years?

We seem to have a real problem developing our recruits. That is coaching period.

Sure it is, but that is all anyone wants to acknowledge. I have not problem with criticizing this loss. But for everyone to act like there have been NO positives for this program over the last 3 years and to not see the improvement that has been made in CERTAIN areas, leads me to believe that you guys are looking for the negative rather than being objective.

For anyone to claim that we have made NO improvement THIS year after 1 game into the season is a joke. Let's be real. Lets talk at the end of the season if we saw improvement in this team compared to last year. Quite acting like season 4 is done and over with and evaluating the program as if this 1 game is the ENTIRE season.

Again. I get it. It's a bad loss. I agree it's a bad loss. I agree he has to do better. So let's see if he can get that done.

4 seasons huh. I thought he has been here for 3 and has now played 1 game in season 4? He has been building this for 3.1 season, not 4-5 years. I said 4-5 in terms of what we've invested in Hawkins. Clearly he won't be gone mid-season (barring a total melt down) so there will be a full 4 years, plus add the dud recruiting class that results from firing a coach and all of a sudden we're at 5 years before we start all over with a new coach.
Recruiting Darrel Scott- yep VERY VERY BAD. Great job, I've never knocked Hawkins' ability to recruit.
Recruiting Ryan Miller - again what bad move. See above.
Bowl game in year 2 - what was he thinking. And then flopped the next year.
Beating two top ranked teams at home - Yep that sucked. Yes, and then losing games to: Montana State, CSU (twice), Baylor, Kansas State (twice), Iowa State, Texas A&M was equally impressive. I’m also very happy that we’ve lost to Kansas and Missouri every year since Hawk has been here.
Taking Georgia to the final bell on the road - dumb ass coach right there. I was there. Were you? We almost won despite what was clearly aloof coaching. And the fact that Georgia's players and fans were more interested in seeing a live buffalo than the game. They told me as much after the game.

Get real and open you eyes. This is not the train wreck you want to believe it is. There have been some really bad loses along the way as well. Some that have pissed me off just as much as the next guy. But the overreaction is comical. I don't want this to be a train wreck. I spend big money every year to go see at least 1 away game. I get $hit on by my friends went go to SEC & ACC schools who know what real coaching is.

How is 13-25 not a train wreck? How did CSU, a MWC program, rebuild & make it to AND WIN a bowl game with less money and talent when we've been to just one and lost it in 3 seasons?

Are you happy with a completely mediocre team? I'm not. The complacency is comical.

I love Monday morning coaches and QB's. They never cease to amaze me.

If you've seen my posts, I'm don't hate Hawk - In fact, I've applauded what he has done to rebuild the program. He has made major changes in who we recruit, the facilities we've got and the players we recruit. Please open your eyes and see that we now need a coach who can win on the field.

IMO that is pretty low hitting at a man's family. I'm as disappointed as the next guy over the lack of success under Hawkins. Calling him an a-hole and a bad parent is way over the line, even for Hastings. Hawk is a big boy, he can deal with it. I'm not calling for Hastings or Hawk's job at the moment. I do think somebody (i.e. Bohn) ought to be putting some heat under the million dollar coach at this point....

I'm sorry, but I'm really not seeing the improvement. We're no better off today than we were when Barnett left. At least in terms of wins/losses. Hawk's last game was very much like his first - an embarassing loss at home to a vastly inferior opponent. When gauging improvement, you look at the starting point and the ending point. I'm not seeing any difference between the two.

We all rememeber what Scott said about Cutler right on the Dan Patrick show right. He says what he thinks, didn't get to hear it, but that is ridiculous to questoin his family. I would have said he is an a-hole of a coach but a great father.

I find those remarks disturbing, I have no problem with Hawkins as a person or a father. I have no problem with Cody even being the starter, hell, he really did not play that bad. The O-Line looked like crap and the defensive line was even worse. What sucked was the playcalling, I give credit to the defense for adjusting in the second half and by that time we did have to throw the ball a lot anyhow. Hastings should apologize.

Darrell Scott should get 20+ carries every single game. Period.

Unless there's some reasons we don't know about ... that's possible I suppose ?

Where is the improvement? Once again, no accountability. You hold the fans more accountable than hawk. He's the one talking big and not producing but please continue trashing the fans, it makes sense.
