and I've talked myself into some optimism.

1. The D got punched in the mouth in the first half and looked pretty confused. However, they pulled their pants back up and played much better in the second half. How much of this was CSU pulling their foot off the gas a little, I don't know, but I'm going to take it as a good sign for now. We knew that the Dline was going to be a work in progress, but we thought the LBs and DBs would be able to cover up and keep things strong. Once the DBs figured out what they were doing, things seemed to look up. Hope this can continue.

2. The Oline has three new starters and a fourth playing a new position. I question the type of running plays we chose to use, but as the line continues to get time working together, I am hopeful that they will start to make the plays we need. The pass protection break downs seemed to be limited to one or two guys, so hopefully those guys can watch some film and make a big improvement moving forward.

3. The WRs on the field this week didn't scare anyone. But, I thought Simmons looked very good considering the amount of practice he's had and Jefferson looked like he has some talent. The more reps they get, they become threats. Add Simas into the mix next week and our WR situation starts to look much different.

4. The TEs were a big part of the passing game on our successful drives. I hope to see this continue.

5. The coaches have definitely made us question their intelligence, but I don't see how they can possibly allow DScott to get only 1 carry ever again.

We'll see what happens this week, the problems we saw Sunday may continue, but I'm going to hope that the team takes a big step forward and shows that Sunday was a fluke, not part of a trend.

funny, exactly where I am at this point too... however, I have a huge pool of dread collecting in the spot where my heart used to be (it got ripped out on sunday), so I dunno.... :puke:

CSU stepping off the gas against the buffs? Find it hard to believe. Although I was impressed Fairchild had them kneel on it inside the 5 yard line. Lubejob probably would have rubbed it in more there.

i wouldn't confuse that for sportsmansip...if they were up by two scores, then yes. that was upon by 6, not going to risk a mistake and lose by 1 over a costly stupid mistake after dominating the first half and slipping in the second.

Agree. Even if they score there the Buffs get the ball back with over a minute left. Once they got that long run down to the 5 they could run the clock out with a knee. That was just smart football.
